NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia will boost operations between Belgrade and Istanbul this July, while Turkish Airlines will deploy its widebody aircraft on the route after the two carriers signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Doha during the 78th IATA Annual General Meeting to explore deeper cooperation.

Under the agreement, Air Serbia will add an extra three weekly flights to Istanbul for a total of ten. The carrier will introduce the additional frequencies from July 12, each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Flights will depart the Serbian capital at 00.40, arriving in Istanbul at 03.20 local time, before beginning their return journey at 05.00 for a 05.40 arrival into Belgrade. The additional services are primarily targeting transfer passengers. Turkish Airlines will maintain three daily flights between Istanbul and Belgrade but will deploy widebody aircraft between the two cities twice per week.

As a result of the new services, Belgrade and Istanbul will boast 35 weekly flights from mid-July, operated by Air Serbia, Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines.

I don't think they have put them in the system yet. I'm guessing one will be on Fridays. A330 most likely.

I guess it's because they keep on requesting more flights to Belgrade but these keep on being blocked by JU-TK.

Maybe that is part of the deal of TK opening AYT as a regular flight, while JU will go double daily to IST

Could maybe JU fit at least one A330 per week flight to IST? Could it fit in schedule?

    Wow very nice news.

I just remember the times Air Serbia wasn't flying to Istanbul some years ago.

Now it looks like IST is their one of the most successful route!

There was no way to compete with TK on IST without their codeshare.

Good news but how is JU going to handle more flights when they are stretched to the limit with their current fleet?
