Air Serbia plans separate airport zone for premium passengers

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia plans to have a dedicated zone for business class passengers at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport once the latter’s ongoing expansion is completed. The carrier’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said, “Air Serbia is currently working on improving its services. Belgrade Airport is going through major changes and infrastructure developments. In the expanded terminal, we plan to have a dedicated separate zone for passengers flying business class, which will be more alike a hotel lobby than a standard airport terminal”. Although Mr Marek did not go into details, such services for premium passengers are offered by several other airlines at their hub airports, particularly in the Gulf, including Emirates and Qatar Airways. “All passengers are important to us, which is why we will continue to offer certain services in economy class which are no longer provided by the majority of traditional carriers. Instead of reducing services, we will try to improve and develop them. The more you offer to your customers, the higher your brand awareness will be. They will prefer to come back to you, and you will have a better financial performance, which you can then invest into further product development”, Mr Marek concluded.

How is it getting old when it's happening every single day?

Like everywhere else in Europe. Won’t stop people flying.

Not just Europe. Toronto was recently ranked as worst airport globally based on delays. Complaints about Belgrade are laughable.

I think the JU business lounge is the only one where you need to ask for Cola or any drinks apart from water...absolutely stupid from customer side

Absolutely untrue, the fridge is stocked with all the usual soft drinks. I guess now we're inventing stuff just to besmirch the airline.

    2. I flew with them 4 days ago, there is just plastic bottles of water, so ann 10:48 is correct...or maybe we are both blind

What's the issue with just ordering whatever you want from the bar?

    4. For me it's just the inconvenience of trying to find someone, and then waiting for the drinks to be served, instead of just looking at the fridge and taking it out. The only time i've seen it anywhere else was in Kolkata, but even there they've change it to be under the food counter

They used to have soft drinks in the fridge until Covid, then when Covid started they didn't have anything in the fridge. Then they put water inside.

    6. My usual transit hub was either AMS or FRA but with those being in a state of mess I switched to BEG, so I only can confirm that the frideges are stocked, but with water only

    - also known as a lounge.

No it's not a lounge. They are talking about a separate area for check in, and not a separate counter but a separate area which is physically divided from the rest of passengers. These also usually include separate security check, passport check and special services upon arrival.Google the examples given in the article.

They already have a lounge. This will be something different.

From the limited information provided, I believe it'll be a dedicated check in area for JU business class pax separate from the economy class passengers, with improved fast lane facilities for security screening and passport control.

Love it! Air Serbia is definitely becoming the most premium LCC in Europe!

Their pricing policy is absolutely not LCC so they are just a below average carrier; not legacy not LCC (although others with rare exceptions are not much better either)

More premium LCC than LH, AF and BA.

Calling Air Serbia premium LCC is a joke, right? Or was it meant as an insult? Either way it didn't work.

This is a strange announcement having in mind that their premium service deteriorated significantly for the past 2 years. I’m a gold Etihad (Air Serbia) guest member and from my recent travel experience I know that they are not providing any lounge access in Paris and in London (while on Terminal 2, don’t know the situation with Terminal 4). They are also not providing any lounge access on a number of other airports and that’s why they removed the list of “worldwide” lounges from their website.

In addition to that, their premium lounge in Belgrade was really one of the best and cosiest lounges in Europe. Just a few people there, a la carte service, stocked fridges, very kind staff. Real premium. This also remained even when they decided to go with Euro business class system in their planes (which is ok and reasonable in current market). However, now they are allowing access to a bunch of premium passengers from other airlines, priority pass and lounge key holders and you can even buy access for a relatively low amount of money. This resulted in a overcrowded lounge, relatively dirty and without any drinks apart from water in the fridges. You can order a drink, but you need to fight and to be fast. Often there is a sign on the door that the lounge is in full capacity. Last time, it was so hot and crowded that air conditioning didn’t manage to work there. Everyone sweating, ladies working there really pissed off. Really bad image - lot of good work in the past just destroyed.

Unfortunately very typical for Serbia. I.e. aim high, best in the world and then "pouf" not even close to that imposed startup standard.

Say what you want but Dane Kondic pushed Air Serbia service to peak levels across the board. Removal of dedicated business class seats in A319/320 does not justify erosion of other services. At least there is some hope for business class passengers now that long haul is expanding and dedicated new facilities are being built.

There is a list of lounges worldwide, although I don't know if it is correct:

Maybe you should focus on actually getting this job to an end as it takes way too long. At least you should have your services at a discounted price, because right now you are a rip off and your prices are not in line with what you offering.
Not to mention the taxi drivers that are a mafia on their own, refusing costumers, charging what ever they feel like and overall taking advantage in every possible way. Nikola Tesla used to be a really great Airport,it is not the case right now.
