Second Air Serbia A330 to be named Mihajlo Pupin

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia's second Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which is due to be delivered in October, will be named after the Serbian physicist and physical chemist Mihajlo Pupin. A special livery, featuring Pupin's image, will be painted on the wide-body jet. Based in the United States for much of his life, Mihajlo Pupin was also the Honorary Consul of Serbia in the United States from 1912 to 1920 and played a role in determining the borders of the newly formed Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Notably, Mihajlo Pupin was one of the twelve people to have attended the first meeting of the National Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), which would later transform into NASA. In addition to being involved in its establishment, Pupin was also the first chairman of the subcommittee on aviation communications in the United States. With the addition of its second wide-body jet, the airline will inaugurate flights to China and Chicago in the United States.

In 1935 the physics building at Columbia University was Pupin Hall. There is a bust of Pupin as you enter the building.

Amazing scientist and person. He won Pulitzer prize for his great autobiography, it should be available for reading while flying in Pupin, just to boost some awareness on this cool guy.

I still think they should just have their regular livery on at least one A330.
