Croatia delays PSO flights until September

NEWS FLASH

Croatian Public Service Obligation flights (PSO) have been delayed until at least September after the government failed to finalise contracts with Trade Air and Croatia Airlines, which were originally to come into force in June. Although Croatia Airlines has continued to maintain its PSO services, irrespective of the funding made available through the contracts, Trade Air suspended its domestic flights in late April after its previous contract with the Croatian government expired. It was due to resume domestic operations in July but has constantly delayed the start date, as a result of the government’s actions.

Be glad that Croatia has at least what it has, just look at our situation in Slovenia ...

    2. Sorry, I can't be glad. Croatia is double bigger, has coast, islands, domestic traffic, diaspora in size of two entire Slovenias, on all continents, booming tourism with more than 12 million visitors, two million from distant markets, entire Balkans "behind", parts of Slovenia in catchment aerea of its biggest airport, all preconditions for flag carrier to exist, operate profitably or with smaller losses than now, and be the size of at least 3 existing OU's, network and fleet wise. Concerning this PSO, it would be better not to go on with it at all, because timetable, services, equipment, frequencies and timings are total failure. With right strategy, Croatia could have been at least a power, if not a superpower in aviation in Southern Europe. Instead we have Danke Deutschland mentality which basically is the only similarity with Slovenia, aviation wise

Croatian airport are well served by the other airlines. Just look at Split, Zadar and Dubrovnik. I agree there is still space for development, but look at LJU on the other hand. The airport had almost 2 million passangers at the time, when the reputation of Adria with its prices and cancellations was bad. Taking into consideration how many Slovenes (including me) and tourist use other airports, LJU could easily have 3 million passengers, espically with some more LCCs. But Hvala Slovenian government and Danke Deutschland does not allow this.

You say they are ‘well served’ by other airlines I’m zadar. Really? I think that is true only in summer. There is next to nothing outside of summer. And… the other airlines are not flying domestic. Correct me if I wrong.

Slightly OT, flew ZAG-BWK on Tuesday. Incredible scenery on the approach over Hvar. LF just around 70%. BTW, LF on our flight to ZAG from BRU was around 75%, which I thought was disappointing given that we flew on the Dash.
