NEWS FLASH
TUI Airways is planning to commence flights between London Gatwick and Sarajevo this coming winter season. Although tickets are not yet available for purchase, the airline has filed a schedule for a one weekly rotation on the route starting late December with a mix of Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Wizz Air is currently the only airline flying between Sarajevo and the UK, with a two weekly service to Luton Airport.
Being winter and skiing destination, and with so affordable prices, especially for Britons, and with obviously good current SJJ management, I am not surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if they add INI to their winter timetable, for the skiing holidays on Kopaonik as well. JAT used to operate INI to LHR long long time ago during winter for the same reason. Anyhow, SJJ is doing great job lately. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteKopaonik is not particularly affordable any more.
DeleteFor British standard, it is affordable.
DeleteIt won't be affordable for British this winter, with our electricity and Gas prices quadroupleing, we won't be able to afford to travel.
DeleteSure
DeleteThere are many British companies in Sarajevo as well. I am working in one British company with 2000 people. Every week there is someone from Briatain her. So, it is for business as well.
DeleteWizz will fly 4 weekly from Sarajevo to London Luton this winter
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime both Wizz and Easyjet will decrease their number of flights from London to LJU and BA won't fly to LJU this winter. Soon SJJ will have more flights to London than LJU. For LJU, which I believe had the highest number of flights to London in whole ex-yu before corona in winter, this is disaster. Bravo Fraport!
DeleteBA in winter has never flown to LJU
DeleteWe always hear from Fraport and fanboys how LHR will become year round service. 2022/23 winter season will be the 4. one that they will not fly.
DeleteUsually if this route develops well, it can remain for a long time. Brits may have a notorious fame but ont he other extreme it has very good and loyal tourists as well. Some of them will visit the country over and over. Well done, SJJ! Gatwick is an important airport to get connected to.
ReplyDeleteINI, are you reading this?
ReplyDeleteNope. Never. Nothing...
DeleteThey're literally doing nothing over there. PSO started as well as looong holiday for INI managment.
DeleteINI has favorable terms for airlines but their management needs to be replaced.
ReplyDeleteInteresting but I have my doubts. TUI are very expensive even for British people (of which I’m one). Can’t see tui making a success if this but we shall see
ReplyDeleteTUI is litteraly the only surviving UK charter airline and they are not expensive for British tourists. Where is it coming from? I flew with them to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Canary Islands and although the good old days of Thomson are gone, their service is still better than RYR or EZY, particulary as a part of a package deal. I am not connected to them in any capacity, but let's keep thing in perspective. Or everything linked to news about Sarajevo has to have a negative context. Bjelasnica and Jahorina have more than enough to offer to 180 British winter package tourists p/w and it all depends on snow, or lack of it. [S.K.]
DeleteTUI are very expensive. In the Balkans you all have a mentality that thinks British are rich. I can assure you the UK is full of poverty, people going for weekly food handouts. The UK isn't all rosy like some of you think.
DeleteI appreciate some familes may find TUI affordable but I have consistently found their packages to be substantially more expensive than the likes of Jet2 or doing it yourself and flying easy or Ryanair. For people like me who can just about manage to afford to travel TUI really don't seem to be an option in my experience.
DeleteWe are taking about aviation on this site and UK is aviation Meca of Europe! Noone flies more than British, yet we are reading about poverty over there. I guess there are poor people in UK but guys when I see dramatic decrease of flights on LHR and other airports in UK I'll believe that UK poverty is hot topic.
DeleteDon't worry @An.21.52, it's coming from a guy who thinks I hate everything croatian just because I write how bad Croatia Airlines is and how good it might have been. Actually I was glad reading what he wrote, showing how completely irrational the guy is
DeleteTo all the fools on here, the UK is the most unequal country in Europe, the Tories have destroyed the country and only look after the rich, a bit like Serbia or Croatia.
DeleteI agree with that, UK is one of the most unequal countries in the world but I don't know how's that connected to aviation development.
Deletean@1851. I've been living in the UK for 26 years and TUI Fly is no exception to any other tour-package operator when it comes to prices. And as somebody said in another post, Brits are flying everywhere at any given time of the year. As I said, I find them almost always better choice than EZY and particularly RYR. Ask anybody from Sarajevo how much they were paying for tickets UK - Bosnia before WZZ started flying LTN-SJJ. Unless booked 10 months in advance and with the hassle of changing planes at VIE or MUC/FRA, you could easily book 7 days holiday in Spain or Greece for the same price. But lets continue with negativity when it comes to Sarajevo.
DeleteI think he'll move back to Balkans since the poverty in UK is massive
DeleteI need that meme with Mel Gibson talking to Jesus actor at shooting of Passion of the Christ: Balkan people from UK explaining Balkan people from Balkan what is poverty
DeleteThat is actually very true. Sarajevo is a popular and well known business destination in London.
DeleteNo matter how negative the comments about UK are, it remains one of the most important markets in Europe. Many EU capitals have London as their busiest destination including its numerous airports.
