Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport handled 717.636 passengers in August, representing a decraese of 5.2% on the same period during the pre-pandemic 2019. The number of aircraft movements declined 4.6%. Over the January - August period, the airport welcomed 3.572.597 travellers through is doors, reaching 87% of pre-Covid passenger levels. Its General Manager, Francois Berisot, told EX-YU Aviation News last week, “Belgrade Airport’s pace of recovery, even during the pandemic, was above the regional and EU average. The local market has shown a great resilience to restrictions and people were ready to actively travel again as soon as the first opportunity arose, both for business and leisure. The year 2022 is very dynamic as almost all destinations from 2019 have been restored and as many as sixteen new routes have been added".

Solid result. Compared to August 2019 passenger numbers: BEG 5% less, ZAG 7% less. Close game.
ReplyDeleteThe only difference being that one of those airport got a new airline that based 3 planes and launched 25 routes.

So, the load factor in 2022 is close to LF in 2019.
How many routes and airlines lost? Russian airlines are a big chunk. As for Air Serbia load factor, are you even aware those numers are for all airlines at Belgrade airport, not just Air Serbia? How can you try to calculate for example KLM LF on BEG routes? Thats just wrong!

DeleteApart from lacking the knowledge of basic maths, Air Serbia introduced 9 new routes from Belgrade this year, not 12 - Trieste. Bologna, Bari, Hanover, Salzburg, Valencia, Lyon, Sochi and Nis. These substituted routes they operated in 2019 that they did not operate in 2022 like Helsinki, Kiev, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Beirut, Krasnodar, Nice, Hamburg etc. To actually be able to calculate their load factor you would have to know their available capacity from Belgrade and the number of passengers they had in Belgrade. Since you know neither you cannot conclude their load factor from Belgrade Airport's passenger numbers. But I realise this news was not what you were hoping for so...
Come on, BEG. You definitely need BA! Also what a pity about those Tel Aviv flights that were en mass. Also resumption of Iran and who knows, LIS is part of Vinci maybe they can consider the return of TP to BEG being 2 European airports under the same umbrella.
ReplyDeleteWell, Arkia has resumed BEG and they have upgraded their capacity from E95 to B738/A320. They also added extra frequencies this summer season, at some point they had 4 weekly.
