NEWS FLASH

Turkey’s TAV Technologies, which uses innovative solutions to develop “smarter airports”, will soon begin working with Zagreb Airport, which is managed by a consortium that includes TAV Airports. The aim is to further improve the quality of service at Zagreb Airport. TAV Technologies uses software and solutions to improve airport operations, passenger and baggage processing, as well as airport digital services. TAV Technologies has previously provided support to the airport on certain occasions but will now work directly with it. As a result, Turkey’s TAV will continue to expand its influence and operations in Zagreb. Earlier this year, TAV Airports’ subsidiary Havas acquired Zagreb Airport’s ground handling services. TAV Technologies has provided its products and solutions to airports in Skopje, Ohrid, Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bodrum, Antalya, Tbilisi, Batumi, Monastir, Enfidha, Dammam, Riyadh, Medina, Amsterdam Schiphol and Riga, among others.

TAV has completely taken over the airport. All managerial positions are filled by TAV, all TAV affiliated companies and subsidiaries are now present at ZAG. Even TAV lists ZAG as their airport.

I don't know if you've ever been to this airport, but other than its looks, it is the worst airport I've ever been to. Sadly, my home airport. Just a huge cavern with no contents or amenities or stores or food to speak of (there is some of everything, put it's pathetic), stupidly engineered, distinctly NOT user friendly, just a hassle every single time. Annoyed that we the tax payers gave so much money for a failure. Hope these guys can do something to try and fix it

Extremely user unfriendly airport. What a waste of money.

I use the airport quite often as well but I haven't experienced it that way. Its a bit static maybe, they should add green tints with plants etc. in my opinion. But for the rest I find it functioning quite well and getting through security / passport control etc. is a delight when compared to other European airports.
Prices in bars are high but nothing different than other airports.

I also fly out of Zagreb monthly and it’s one of the easiest main airports I’ve ever been to. If you don’t need to check in it’s amazing how quickly you go from security and passport control to the gates. Zagreb isn’t a huge transfer hub so you don’t need a lot of things because there’s no long layovers. Aesthetic of the airport is minimalism, and if you add more and more things it will lose it’s main design and it will become tacky.

I honestly don't know why people are so critical of the airport. There is an perceived lack of services because of the lack of traffic. It is much better to keep the level of quality and expand as the traffic expands than to dump prices and get contents and services unfitting for an airport. Secondly, I honestly don't know what is "user unfriendly" about the airport, of all the airports I've been at, and I've been at a few, Pleso is among the ones that are easiest to navigate, and that is not going to change with raising traffic, because the terminal was well planned.

I am traveling across all Europe for last 10 years and developed a habit for assessing airports from my own traveller perspective. And what I can say for Zagreb that it is probably Top 5 out of 30+ I visited, in terms of user friendliness, cleanness and architecture. Admittedly it could use more content, but for one that just travels and does not do much airport shopping, Zagreb is pretty decent. My colleagues from abroad when are of the same opinion when they travel to Zagreb
