Ljubljana Airport to install second solar plant

NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Airport will generate over 20% of its electricity from solar power starting from February of next year. The Slovenian energy service provider Resalta will install, finance, and operate the second photovoltaic (PV) system, which will be installed on top of the terminal buildings, the airport’s business and logistics facility, and a garage, following the first 500kWp project on the roof of the car park, opened in November 2021. The new PV system will generate approximately 1088 MWh of electricity per year. Resalta's solution will be in operation from February 2023.

      Virtue signaling operation. Photo voltaic panels do not work when there is no sun. It is just hollow virtue signaling. Solar, wind and the so called renewables have to be backed 100% by classical energy if you wish to continue to live in the 21st century. S country of a size of Germany would need 250.000 GWh battery to bridge periods without sin and wind. Garbage.

    Covering the runway, apron and taxiways with solar panels could bring more revenue to the airport.

    How about installing a jetbridge on the most important gate LJU AP has, Gate A1??
    How come that in 2022, handicapped or elderly people still have to walk the stairs of Nr. 1 gate to board the plane?
    How about customer service for older and handicapped people?? All these western companies know nowadays are gender, green washing and poor service. Western capitalism of 2022 is a shame. European companies were once offering services, like u still see in Asia and Middle East. 2022 we are just left with memories of the healthy capitalism culture we had 30-40 years ago.
    4 days ago I was at the Biz Lounge in LJU. Cheap headache wine, empty salad buffet, food which did not really looked inviting and several tables not cleaned or old dishes removed. Thats the service culture of Fraport, same time green washing is THE topic atm. I prefer not to fly, cause if I see the lousy attitude in todays aviation world, I get a headache.

      The lounge is very often over-crowded. Like you already said tables are left uncleaned. Food is poorly stocker or it is stocked with low frequency. The whole lounge looks very cheap and its not even bigger than the old one. I would even say that the old had more seats.

      @15:58 - by EC 1107/2006 LJU too is required to provide assistance to pax not being able to walk the stairs at gate A1 (and other gates for lowcosters and lufty's CR9), pax just need to arrange it at some point. I have no comment on the lounge topic except that apparently there are not enough official complaints for them to make the level of service better.

      I dont understand airlines/airports saving on Business Class passsngers. If I book a ticket ZRHLJUZRH this weekend, the price comes up to 1000 EUR. People willing to pay such amounts should be treated like kings

      @anonym 2051h
      Thats right, wheelchairs have their special assistance service, but u know how elderly people who are still able to walk, like to walk stairs. In addition, if it rains, you get wet. Unnecessary experiences if management would be just quality focused. Regarding the Lounge. People are getting tired writing, as usually nothing improves. Later on airports come back with the excuse, there are no complaints. If u run a lounge, you see or should see, whats needed to hve customers satisfied. Asian and ME lounges are so much better than European lounges. If a mgt is interested in quality, it provides quality. If not, u hve a situation like in LJU.

      JU520, could you please share a bit more details about the Biz Lounge in LJU? I am really shocked that the online rating is that low and it really surprises me from a more advanced country like Slovenia and a pretty decent looking terminal. Is it also true that the food is not fresh, scarce and a bit days old? Did you need to buy it or it was included in your ticket?

    5. I would not say that the food is old. Not at all. The food always has a fresh look, but it is not regularly restocked. If lucky you (can) gonna get 2 or even 3 types of salads (greek, grain salad with vegetables, regular letucce salad, cucumber&jogurt/fresh cream - not always all available), small size sandwiches (cheese, salami and caprese, grilled eggplant etc - not always all available). You gonna be able to get some (not really fresh if in the afternoon) croissant and potica, however In the afternoon you gonna find soup as well (Beef soap, goveja juha). Fresh fruit cups and chia+chocolate "pudding" with fresh mint leaf (my favourite thing) as a dessert options. I would not say the food is the main problem (its ok, nothing special), but everything else. Like someone already mentioned, Tables regularly stay uncleaned. There are 2 coffee machines (3 weeks ago one was out of order). I drink espresso with cold mild and every single time i need to ask for cold milk (in all other lounges i have been cold milk is always available at the coffe machine). Ice cubes tend to be half melted. "Bar" area stays full of crumbs, spilled soft drinks etc.

    Let me add one thing. Fraport is the owner nobody want. Nobody answers any phone calls, workers are rude, and organization is worse than Kyiv airport at this moment. I usually fly from Ljubljana 3-4 times per month, but recently I've flown from Italian airports instead.
