Aeroitalia to launch Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia flights

Italian carrier Aeroitalia will commence seasonal summer flights from Forli in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy to Mostar, Belgrade, Dubrovnik, and Zadar. The carrier will put tickets on sale for the new routes next week. Operations from Forli to Mostar will commence on April 7, to Belgrade on April 8 and to Dubrovnik and Zadar on June 15. Services will be maintained until the end of the summer season in late October, with the carrier to station an ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft and a 148-seat Boeing 737-700 jet in Forli. Tickets will be available for purchase through Aeroitalia’s website, as well as the GoTo Fly and GoToTravel tour operators.

Neither of the four cities in the former Yugoslavia are presently linked to Forli with a nonstop air service. The development is important for Mostar which has now secured its first scheduled flights for this year. Aeroitalia’s arrival will also result in Belgrade being linked to a record ten cities in Italy, five of which will commence this summer season. Forli will become Dubrovnik’s fifth destination in Italy, three of which are launching this year, while Zadar will now be linked to four cities on the Italian market. Exact frequencies for the new routes will be unveiled next week when tickets go on sale.

Aeroitalia is Italy’s newest private carrier which launched operations only last year. It is owned by a former consultant to Italy's Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Francesco Gaetano Intrieri. The airline is financially backed by German Efromovich, who is AeroItalia's president, and who was previously the owner of Colombian airline Avianca. The Italian carrier currently operates a small fleet of four Boeing 737-800 aircraft and one ATR72-600. It will soon add another ATR72 and a further three B737-800s to its fleet and plans to introduce three B737-8 MAX jets as well. Aeroitalia offers a single cabin configuration on its aircraft with a buy on board in-flight service.

      Taste is certainly subjective.

But having said that, there are terrible livery designs and then there is this thing making the Italian flag and colours look cheap.

If it was so "retro" all branding agencies would have been all over such designs, but they're not.

    4. I don't really care much about logos, liveries and designs but the one I definitely can't stand and find disgusting, is the new Lufthansa one - cold, sterile, boring, cheap - actually appropriate for LH today, compared to LH before, both in livery and product

      Delete
    5. SDelic ATH23:20

Actually I flew recently from Athens to Frankfurt and v.v. in LH business class (upgrade challenge 65 EUR per flight) and their business class product is lifted to what it was during the pandemic mid 2020 - mid 2022. Well-inspired menu, stylish dishware in LH livery, pleasant crew..... Well German passengers are a story for itself but mentality is a mentality. Overall, in my case, good value for money, on almost a three hours flights.

      Delete
    6. Of course I know. And I also know you can fly to Forli and than go to BLQ which is half an hour away and is also big FR base. For the summer, I agree, all RJK international flights except MUC are summer season only. On the other hand, LJU is bigger and richer than RJK. So, once again....

      Delete
    7. Anonymous09:57

lol your comment is a joke. u just compared transfering in bergamo (same airport) with transfering on two different airports (30min apart). Im sure you know most of tourists will fly to rijeka mostly because they will stay 7/14 days at more or less one place. If you visit slovenia you will visit because you wanna see Ljubljana, Postojna, Piran, Bled, Bohinj. And to do that its the easiest way with a car. And the cheapest way if you simply drive to Slovenia. but im sure u know that

      Delete
    8. Even if I disagreed with you, I didn't call your post a joke. So some manners for the beginning, please. And as the second, not all people like to drive the car, especially abroad, there are aged people, retired, who like to use tour operators to visit, Slovenia in this case, or why not the other way round. Rimini and San Marino are just aop from Forli. And these services, as I understood, are mainly for tour operators. In any case, LJU can for sure sustain two or three weekly ATR flights to this big and wealthy part of Italy. You still may think opposite, but there is no reason to call my posts joke because of it. Ok?

This airline is still in a very fragile state. They recently announced expansions and then ended up cancelling them:

Until the flights do not materialise, those big expansions are just an illusion in times of war and crisis.

    2. Anonymous09:23

What is funny? When you are shown facts and official data, you end up twisting the plot. So what if they are tour operators? Does that guarantee their future operation? Also, if an new airline downsizes Heathrow like it is the case in the link provided then there are concerns.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous09:29

They are a new airline that successfully launched many new routes. Them reducing frequencies on some routes during the slowest months of the year doesn't prove much. And yes, it is important that the flights are operated on behalf of a tour operator because the tour operators assume the risk.

I don't know what would make you happy. For me to have written the flights will be cancelled. I guess that would make you happiest?

      Delete
    4. Anonymous11:03

Nothing makes me happy. Just being sceptic with wannabe airlines in times of recession and war when even the bigger boys are massively cancelling flights. Realism may be considered as something negative. Let us see how they will progress. Forli is not a major destination. Someone have a very good example with Nis and the older folks remember.
