NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia welcomed 234.000 passengers on its flights in December 2022, representing an increase of 127% year-on-year, and 20% more compared to December 2019. The national airline carried over 200.000 passengers in December for the first time since it rebranded in 2013. It operated 2.761 flights, of which 96% were from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, representing an increase of 1.100 flights, up 71% on last year. “The good results that we achieved during the summer season have continued into the winter. During each of the six months from July to December 2022, we broke our record in the number of passengers carried, and we are very proud of that. In December 2022, an additional 131.000 passengers flew with Air Serbia compared to the same month in 2021, and 39.000 more compared to 2019. We will share accurate information about the total number of passengers carried in 2022 in the coming weeks, but preliminary results show that Air Serbia handled approximately 2.75 million passengers in 2022, which is only 2% less compared to 2019”, the company’s General Manager for Commercial and Strategy, Boško Rupić, said.

Excellent result and hopefully this encourages them to keep on improving their product. Now they have more passengers, more revenue, more disposable income... so they should invest into building and promoting their brand.

I guess they could have 3.6 to 3.7 million next year especially since their network growth starts quite early, already from March.

I would say about 3.5 million passengers this year, and 3.8m next year.

Not impossible, in the first three months of 2023 they will probably have simular growth rates as '22 to '21 numbers due to COVID restrictions. Probably by April 1st they will be around 100% growth for 2023Q1/2023Q1.

The growth will be reduced afterwards but with the earlier start of the season and a major increase in routes in frequencies, an extra million pax does not seam improbable

    Great results! Congratulations!
    My wishes for 2023:
    1. Improved BoB offer that would include also some souvenirs and non-alimentary products (not necessarily parfumes and drinks, but really Serbian and Airserbian souvenir, plane models etc.). This can generate some income and there's basically no vaste.
When it comes to the food, more diversity would not harm, although I like what they offer now.
    2. Further improvement of the mobile app, maybe some changes on web site and in general development of the digital solutions like in flight app etc.... And definitely return of WiFi to their planes.
    3. Opening to the international crew, the one from neighboring countries above all.

      Agree.
Crew from neighboring counties would be added benefit. Especially Macedonia & Albania, sInce it appears harder to find crew from Serbia.
Questions is how would the logistics work? Would these crew members have to live in Beograd full time? Where would they live? Would JU arrange accommodation?

That's to be though about, but for the start Albanian crew may fly live in Albania, and stay on arranged accomodation in Belgrade for some days. Later AirSerbia could really arrange accommodation for those people and cover the costs + offer some Serbian language courses so they can cover majority of passengers. That would meke they really a regional company and resolve a problem with hiring. Albanians and Macedonians can work in Serbia without restrictions anyway.
