it won't fix, but instead of -40% it's gonna be -20% while others airports will be on +20% of pre-covid. There is only one and only solution to get passengers back and I hope government will go for it!

I think a more realistic comparrison for Q1 would also be 2020, as at least JAN and FEB were not influenced by Covid-19 yet (MAR already has been). Compared to JAN and FEB in 2020, the figures are still worse. JAN is down 23% (75.495pax in jan 2021), FEB is down almost 19% (79.776pax in feb 2021).So despite Adria not existing anymore, LJU is still performing worse than pre-covid without Adria.

Still room for much improvement for an EU capital. Also W6 is decreasing their Luton frequencies from 3 to 2 in summer. At least U2 will maintain 6 weekly LGW. Also Transavia is expected to deploy A321neo to LJU starting Xmas from AMS. We will see.

Some people didn't get it. The airport is p2p, it is no longer a transfer airport, that is, mostly Slovenians travel and not Albanians, Macedonians, Bosnians as before...

The only way to fix this would be LCC with cheap tickets, as only a certain percentage of Slovenians can afford LH or other fares, at least if travelling as a family with kids.
But Slovenia government is very Germany gov and EU BRU minded and serving. Both want less air travel due to green agenda and additionally Germany wants SLO to feed and serve LH group.
Germanys domestic market is still over 40% down to pre Covid levels, but at least you have high speed trains, where fm LJU, you need 2h40min to reach Koper only.
My guess is, no LCC to Spain etc and Slovenians keep travelling by car to VCE, ZAG, TRS, BGY etc and fly from there.
SLO is like modern Switzerland, they both try to be the best in school and they have this servant mentality, instead of fighting for their own interests. With the consequence of Switzerland that we lose more and more.

You are very right. We need a low-cost company base. Hopefully someone bases a plane with the new subsidies. I sincerely hope it will be either Wizz or Ryanair.

Does anyone know when there will be charters to Zanzibar or the Faroe Islands?
The airport has great potential for growth, charter flights definitely make sense and the idea of a charter hub is not ridiculous.

Slovenia is a country with great potential, it would be nice to see TUI, Jet2.com winter charters.
However, a decent number of tourists also visit the country with British Airways, Wizz Air, easyjet.

As a Georgian, I would praise the country.
Extremely tasty food, very green and tidy. I can say the same about Croatia. Also, Ljubljana airport is very clean compared to other European airports, here many people say the opposite, but the reality for the west is different. Not everything is rosy, I have worked for years in Italy and I can only praise the Balkan countries for still keeping their traditions and common sense!

@16:33 pretty accurate. If we take into account that there is a few new routes (Athens, Skopje, maybe Madrid, Helsinki just launched a week or two ago, a few more charters than last year, Dubai numbers, which are around 190-200% of last year for Jan and Feb, other routes with a few frequencies more and possible other routes + impact of ZAG from may(Slovenians not using ZAG during next month)), which means if everything goes perfectly, it comes to around 1.49Million maximum (again, if everything goes perfectly)

I mean out there surely should be quite a few new routes according to subsidies tender at least Madrid, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Brussels Charleroi (if we don't include Skopje, Helsinki, and Athens for now). And with money probably remaining after those routes maybe even some from the second plan such as Barcelona, Stockholm, and Rome. But we will see

Good to see some extra Flydubai frequencies around the end of April and beginning of May. This shows how underestimated the LJU-DXB route was and will be maintained 4 weekly until 2024 for the time being. Hopefully W6 consider AUH as well and QR to finally launch LJU when they get grip of the bloody Maxes. Sadly, there will be delays again and QR do not have enough A320s to expand more.
LJU needs more connections to the Middle East and also secure flights to Saudi Arabia now that it is on the rise. Winter charters to Jordan and regular flights to Israel. I guess Lufthansa and Fraport don't want to allow LJU to develop that direction.

TelAviv will have 5 weekly flights this summer. So things are moving forward - i think Riyadh Air will be a real game-changer for Saudia and I think we will see them open some routes in ex-you region as well. Regarding the QR and Boeing situation - they are randomly getting 737-8s instead of 10s which is a surprise, I guess 10s will have lenghtier delay (again).
