Air Serbia will increase frequencies on flights between Belgrade and Tianjin from one to two weekly. Starting October 31, services between the Serbian capital and the Chinese city will run each Tuesday and Saturday, pending government approval. The return flight will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, meaning the aircraft will no longer spend over 24 hours in Tianjin, as is currently the case, rather, the Airbus A330-200 jet will have a 2-hour 50-minute turnaround time. Air Serbia has previously said it plans to increase operations to China, with flights to Shanghai and Guangzhou expected to be added sometime over the coming winter.

DeleteTrue, not comparable. Air Serbia is flying once a week to TSN with 24 hour stop, something Air Serbia would not accept for Toronto. Plus Hainan is flying bigger A333 twice a week from nearby Beijing. That would be like Air Canada flying A333 twice a week to Toronto from to Belgrade, competing with Air Serbia once or twice weekly from Hamilton to Belgrade.

And yet, no YYZ flights and TSN goes 2pw after couple of months of launch. So simething must be bad in Toronto mathematics, that makes those flights questionable wouldn't you agree?

ReplyDeleteAs per today's news article, Air Serbia already said flights to Shanghai and Guangzhou are expected to be added sometime over the coming winter. Shanghai can be removed from unserved list of destinations from Belgrade.
DeleteThat leaves Toronto as Belgrade's busiest unserved destination in the world by far. Ask Air Serbia why are they still holding back on announcing next North American destination?

DeleteWell probably because China is home to over a billion people and JU has many businessmen flying on this route. On the other hand, Toronto is home to our diaspora which would switch in a heartbeat to Lufthansa if it was €5 cheaper. Yields are better in China and Air Serbia is a thriving private business.

DeleteIf those arguments were valid Air Serbia should have expanded only to China instead of launching Chicago, also home to price sensitive diaspora. That diaspora is filling business class on Chicago flights and same is expected for Toronto.
