Air Serbia takes delivery of E195 jet

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has taken delivery of its first Embraer E195 jet today, which will initially be operated by Greece’s Marathon Airlines on behalf of the Serbian carrier through a wet-lease agreement. The 118-seat aircraft, featuring Air Serbia’s full livery, is thirteen years old and is expected to eventually be dry-leased by the airline. As reported by EX-YU Aviation News last week, the plane is expected to enter into commercial service tomorrow. Speaking to EX-YU Aviation News, Pawel Skuteli, Embraer’s Regional Director for Airline Marketing EMEA, said, “Air Serbia launched over twenty new routes this year. With the increased number of long-haul flights, there will be a need for more spokes and more frequencies to feed the network year-round. E-Jets are proven hub-feeders for major airlines in Europe flying complementary to narrow-bodies from main airports, on markets that require either increased frequencies or smaller capacity aircraft. The good fit of E-Jets for the region is also validated by the schedules of other European carriers. On routes from hubs like Vienna, Amsterdam, Paris, or Warsaw, E-Jets are very often the most popular type”. Marathon Airlines is already operating an E190 aircraft for Air Serbia, with another E195 likely to arrive next month. Several former Air Montenegro crew members have transferred over to Marathon Airlines to operate the aircraft on Air Serbia's behalf.

I think of all ex-Communist countries, Jat was in the worst shape by the end. It was at the same point as JP just before its collapse. I don't think they would have lasted another season.

      JU livery
      11 A319
      3 A320
      5 ATR
      2 A330

      21

      Wet leased

      1 E90
      1 E95
      1 ATR
      2 A320
      3 B738
      1 B734
1 A320 (Dan Air that comes every weekend)

My bad so a total of 32 aircraft, almost as many as JAT had. I believe their record was 36. Next year Air Serbia will overtake JAT Yugoslav Airlines in pretty much every way.

    5. Anonymous20:00

That's 32 total, close to peak JAT fleet

    6. Anonymous22:40

Wow, JAT was smaller than I thought.

^ 10th largest airline in Europe and 31st in the world by number of passengers carried, just to put things into perspective.

Next year Air Serbia will overtake JAT in terms of planes it operates especially if they grow their A330 fleet.

Air Serbia also managed to outperform JAT in another important segment - profitability.

I am especially happy that they repaid that €20 million loan to the government because like that they proved all the haters wrong.

No A320s planned for this year, more are supposed to come next year. I think with the economic slowdown in the west there will be less pressure on the leasing market so JU will have an easier time finding planes.

Second E95 will arrive in September just ahead of the winter season. Honestly, they need these planes more for winter than summer.

    2. Anonymous13:12

They need Embraers whatever, they will deploy them to CDG, ZRH and all busy routes when winter when demand is lower and to NAP, BRI, HER and other secondary destinations in summer where Airbus is too big, just like Marseille and Cologne

Guys I was going through Flight Radar 24 and I have to say that morning arrivals looked pretty impressive:

    04.15 SVO A320
    05.10 ESB A319
    05.15 SKG ATR
    05.20 VAR ATR
    05.20 SKP ATR
    05.25 ATH A319
    05.30 OHD ATR
    05.30 OTP ATR
    05.30 TIA A319
    05.40 IST A319
    05.45 LCA A319
    05.55 AER A319
    05.55 CAI A319

On top of all this dawn madness there was also an Air Cairo A320 from Hurgada at 05.30.

This is a pretty impressive list.

Delays affected many airlines this summer. Arrival delays are usually much smaller than departure delays on longhaul flights. Currently flying BEG-ORD flight is only about 20 mins late.

    2. Anonymous11:23

You are very dramatic, I took 7 flights with JU this summer and they had hardly any delay. Actually every small delay was due to airport facilities or airport ground handling company. None caused by JU.

Do you know registration marks for all wet lease aircrafts?
