Air Serbia wet-leases A330 jet

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has wet-leased an Airbus A330-300 aircraft on a short-term basis from Spain’s Wamos Air. The seventeen-year-old jet, registered EC-NOF, arrived from Madrid yesterday and has been deployed on the airline’s New York service this morning. It temporarily replaces the Serbian carrier’s A330-200 registered YU-ARC, which left for Istanbul for maintenance this morning. EC-NOF features 377 seats, of which twelve are in business class and the remaining 365 in economy.

I think there's actual a decent chance of them wet leasing it for this whole winter, and opening China flights

      Actually, they should.

Been speaking for ages how they need the A330-300.

Interesting, will they be selling the flighs as 270 seats (YU-ARC) or 377 seats (EC-NOF)?

    3. Anonymous22:31

Actually, they had 360 seats in economy, they sold the entire plane not just the regular size of the A332

They are not satisfied with this one, its cramped and not suiting to the current product they are offering.

And why did ARC have to go for maintenance?...something unexpected?

Radio systems used for oceanic overflights is INOP, hence aircraft does not have ETOPS and is unable to operate over the Atlantic. Should be quick change however.

Why dont they fix it themself?
Air Serbia has a Maintenance department

So how do they release the A330s if they dont have licensed engineers????

"Spare parts you get within hours on AOG basis"

You have obviously been living under a rock and have no clue what is going on in the aviation industry.

hundred of jets around the world are grounded because there is a shortage of all parts. even if Air Serbia picked up the phone to order it, they would be bottom of the list and would wait months.
their only hope is that the turks have it in their warehouse.

Spare parts are almost non existing. Airlines are either forced to have stocks of their own, which is now reserved only for big players in the market ordering thousands of those individual parts, or you are forced to get them either used, or however else you can.

They do not have a licensed A330 mechanics at the moment, they are schooling several of them - and it is a temporary thing really. Base maintenance for 330 was never done in Belgrade, only line and some small modification not touching the structure or systems itself.

You're wrong, MEL that ARC has no impact/restriction in terms of ETOPS if aircraft is operated within VHF range. After maintanance done at ISL, ARC still has the same MEL.

Might be good to lease an A330 from Wamos or another carrier and start China without waiting for your A330.

Another option: go back to 2022 and order 3-4 A330 without wating for China. Not possible, but Air Serbia should have thought about doing it. Much better than wet leasing A330 now.

Air Serbia effed up by not ordering more A330s at the time they went for YU-ARC.

You suggested that JU should travel back in time to acquire the equpment.
      Again: Are you OK?

Are you able to comprehend this: Not possible, but Air Serbia should have thought about doing it?

Hindsight is always 20/20 vision. Now it is clear Air Serbia should have leased more than just one A330 last year.

An interesting fact is that for a short period during the pandemic, Air Serbia had fewer AirPink planes. Now something has changed and we are already talking about Seoul and Tokyo.

Is Wamos air specializing in short term leases? It seems they are always around when they need a plane quickly and for a few days. I imagine Wamos charges a lot for this service. Some people suggested they lease a plane from them to start flights to China, not sure how profitable that would be.

Is it Wamos Air or Saudia? Looks like it’s a double leased plane.

It is not "double leased". Wamos Air wet leased the plane previously on a longer term basis to Saudia but it no longer is wet leasing to Saudia.

@12@05 but since there are more economy seats maybe they can sell the tickets for cheaper to achieve the same yield by selling more tickets.

What a nightmare for AIR SERBIA! Just 12 seats in Business, instead of 21 - I guess Business will be overbooked on many rotations?! Also, tight 3-3-3 seating in Economy and not 2-4-2 as usal. But worse to come, no PTV/IFE - even in BusinessClass no build in entertainment...

Almost the same with Concorde - tiny sardine box, miniature windows, no busines class seats like today, very old plane... yet people wanted to fly Concorde. If Jipi doesn't want to fly Air Serbia to JFK, 370 other people did want to fly.

    2. Anonymous21:59

Man, you're put to lunch if you're comparing Concorde with A330... Seriously. How old are you? People paid premium for flight time, not because of tiny windows or lack of IFE...

      Delete
    3. Anonymous23:30

Old enough to remember being in Concorde. People now fly A330 and that's okay, unless airline from your county doesnt have one so you want to compensate by b**ching about it 🤣

      Delete
    2. Anonymous23:09

IFE is operational on ARC. Only a few screens have issues, mostly bulkhead as pax have damaged them. Same is the case on ARB. But I agree, cabin maintenance in general needs massive improvement.
