Ex-Croatia Airlines CEO suspended as Air Mauritius boss

NEWS FLASH

Krešimir Kučko, who served as the CEO of Croatia Airlines between 2012 and 2017, and later went on to head Gulf Air and most recently Air Mauritius, has been suspended from his post at the African carrier pending an investigation. Mr Kučko, along with the company’s Chief Finance Officer, have been temporarily stood down by the airline’s Board of Directors after it was brought to their attention that the duo accepted a stay in a hotel in France, covered by one of Air Mauritius' suppliers, local media report. According to an internal message addressed to Air Mauritius staff, the Board of Directors met last Friday and decided to appoint an independent party to investigate the matter. Mr Kučko became Air Mauritius’ CEO last December.

Who would have thought they take compliance so seriously on Mauritius. Now Kučko knows it too. This will pop up on any future job application.

I often see JetStream (Hungary) planes at Croatian airports. Is there any Croatian involvement in this airline?

    5. Anonymous16:18

Nonsense. Croatian aviation management is highly varied. ETF and Trade Air are very much success stories.

BTW FlyAir41 buys Air Berlin brand, soon maybe will see croatian " Air Berlin"😁😆
Also their ICAO/Callsign is BER, BERLIN 🤔

Mauritius is one of the most business friendly destinations in the world (no. 1 in Aftica) and the level of corruption is relatively low (in comparison to the western world, Balkan excluded).

As someone who has worked with Air Mauritius on a contract basis a few years ago I can tell you that no, Air Mauritius does not take this seriously. But what I can tell you is that there are constant game of thrones inside Air Mauritius and certain people wanting to use political influence to run the airline. I am sure this is an example of it. This is not a defence of Kucko but it was like that 4 years ago and I doubt much has changed. You can just see how many times management has been changed in just a few years. Air Mauritius has huge political interference.

Well even if that is the case, Kucko is an idiot for doing this. It's pretty stupid to allow yourself to be in this position.

He never succeeded to finish the T-1... He operated a 'market' before becoming OU CEO where there was no competition, and his job was to collect daily newspaper from the airplane. He is a pathetic bully.

  9. I don't understand why the airline industry is so incestuous! Fail at one job and get rewarded with multiple other opportunities. Running an airline is not rocket science... the Boards of these companies should focus on finding a competent leader instead of someone with "industry experience".

It's not only the aviation industry. I worked in the biggest travel company in the ex-yu for many years, we would hire new CEO's on yearly basis, sometimes even half year, they would fail miserably, accumulate millions of EUR of loss and would be fired, but all of them found new jobs as CEO's of other companies very soon after.

    2. Unfortunately Bajic is not harmless because his cluelesness is used by others who are much much more dangerous than Kucko, and use him as puppet who signs criminal and corruptive deals much much bigger than one in today 's article

    2. Kradeze and SDP are two branches of the same Party - SKJSKH. SDP is a bit more liberal and reformed, Kradeze is a bit more rigid and conservative but the mindset in both is the same or similar. They are not able and not willing to separate business from politics because it brings them benefits. And aparatchiks are obediently executing orders, or just don't care, or both.
