Air Serbia handles over 3.5 million passengers

Air Serbia handled over 3.5 million passengers between January and October of this year. In October alone, the airline welcomed 367.146 travellers on scheduled and charter flights, representing an increase of 43% compared to the same month last year and a 38% jump on the pre-pandemic 2019. The national airline operated a total of 3.970 flights during the month, up 50% and 45% on October 2022 and October 2019 respectively. Regionally, the most popular destinations in October 2023 were Podgorica and Tivat. In Western Europe, passengers travelled the most to Zurich, followed by Paris, Rome, and Amsterdam, while in the broader Euro-Mediterranean region, the most sought-after Air Serbia flights were to Istanbul, Larnaca, Athens, and Barcelona.

Air Serbia routes with highest frequencies and capacity, October 2023

Commenting on the results, Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said, "October was our birthday month. Besides numerous activities we carried out during October to celebrate the company's ten years of operations, primarily focused on our passengers, we also opened a new retail shop in the Galerija Shopping Centre, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the British company Menzies Aviation, welcomed another Embraer E195 aircraft in Air Serbia's colours to Belgrade, and the results show that we have broken another record. With over 367.000 passengers on our flights, this is the most successful October since we have been operating under the name of Air Serbia. We are approaching the number of four million passengers in 2023, and if we get close to that figure or surpass it, it will be a significant and important achievement for the Serbian national airline".

The Serbian carrier is set to inaugurate flights between Belgrade and Porto tomorrow, its 23rd new route of the year. During November, the airline has 428.996 seats on the market on scheduled services, maintaining a total 3.606 flight operations. During the month, the airline has the most scheduled flights to and from Podgorica, followed by Istanbul, Ljubljana, Vienna and Zagreb. The highest volume of available seat capacity are on services to Istanbul (13.288 seats, served from Belgrade, Niš and Kraljevo), followed by Zurich (10.352), Moscow (9.414), Paris (8.958), Podgorica (8.458) and Athens (6.960), however, capacity levels may change due to last-minute equipment swaps. This month, the ATR will be most commonly utilised in the fleet, operating 1.371 flight operations, followed by the Airbus A319 with 818 flights and the Embraer jets with 604 flights.

How come the sudden surge in interest for Cyprus?

      Delete
    5. Nemjee09:47

Covid. Cyprus was one of the few places that had a semi-normal and stable set of entry requirements after the island opened up. They were among the first (if not the first) EU country to allow entry to those vaccinated with all WHO approved vaccines (which included Sinopharm).

So all of a sudden Cyprus became extremely popular. Since many people liked it they kept on coming back.

It also helped that Wizz Air launched LCA so JU was forced to adjust its pricing policy. Before W6 they used to charge at least €240 for a return flight. It's also worth noting that JU started to perform extremely well once they introduced daytime flights .

I spoke to a friend of mine who works at LCA and he told me that on that day JU A320 departed with 170+ passengers with 45 transfers to Berlin, 30 something to Stockholm, 20 something to Zurich and I think 18 to Vienna.

    8. Anonymous09:39

LH fly in November to FRA-BEG 14 pw and JU 10 pw
In MUC LH is surely dominant as they fly MUC-BEG 14 pw and JU 0, but in other German cities the situation is as following
      BER - JU 7 pw, LH 0
      CGN - JU 2 pw, LH / EW 0
      DUS - JU 7 pw, LH / EW 0
      HAM - JU 2 pw, LH / EW 0
      HAJ - JU 2 pw, LH / EW 0
      NUE - JU 2 pw, LH / EW 0
      STR - JU 4 pw , LH / EW 0

So in total traffic from BEG to Germany frequency wise looks as following:

      LH 28 weekly rotations
      JU 36 weekly rotations

      Delete
    13. Anonymous10:28

Dakle, 3 sedista manje ili vise nije bitno mada ima sajtova gde se pokazuje i 189 sedista kod B738 KlasJet.

      https://seatmaps.com/airlines/klj-klasjet/boeing-737/
