Zagreb Airport registered its busiest January on record by handling 249.578 passengers, representing an increase of 12.6% on 2023. During the month, Pegasus Airlines introduced its new two weekly service from Istanbul Sabiha Gocken Airport to the Croatian capital. Zagreb Airport anticipates a record year with plans to handle over four million passengers.

Great news for ZAG and im glad that OU is remaining as the largest airline. Hopefully they can push to have at least 50% share one day. and JU growth in ZAG is surprising and nice to see.

DeleteCroatia Airlines has 42% market share at Zagreb airport. When planned Ryanair growth kicks in, OU will end 2024 ZAG market share percentage in the high 30's.
Deletedam if its true thats a really bad result to fall that far behind. as long as they finish with a good financial result and increase passanger numbers for the year there will be chance to grow. they will really struggle if not having good financial results and losing market share.

DeleteZagreb has very slow Jan and Feb, even Mar is bit dismal, but hopefully things improve this year. as someone pointed out Zagreb has 20% more seats on offer this year. I don't expect Zagreb airport to grow by 20% but wouldn't discount 11% growth yoy. What ever the case, airport is expected to hit 4.0 million this year, if things go well perhaps 4.1 million or if very well, 4.2 million. Which is ok in my book. Zagreb is close to main destinations in central Europe, Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Milan, Venezia, Zurich, are all few hours drive away. There are no bothers between Croatia and any of the western European countries with in the EU, so any growth is good.

ReplyDeleteSo if SKP handled 230k last month that is only 20k pax difference between SKP and ZAG. ZAG has OU plus FR plus many other carriers such as KLM, Air France, Fly Dubai, Eurowings and more LH flights. So very good SKP!

ReplyDelete230k for SKP in January is not that bad , especially when from 1th january until 10 there was very heavy fog and alot of flights were cancelled , delayed and routed to Sofia,Theseloniki and Pristina

ReplyDeleteI think that the pax are counted at the original airport as well, cause the airline is obligated to bring all passengers to their original airport. In my case when we landed in SKG we were transported to SKP airport and from there on we found our ways home.
ReplyDeleteHere we go again with SKP being number 2. 1 sole airport and relies on Albanian diaspora. There is just nothing more to say. Even LH reduced its much "anticipated" SKP flights.
