NEWS FLASH

Flynas scheduled the resumption of its seasonal service between Riyadh and Podgorica last week for 2024, which will see the Saudi Arabian low cost airline add more flights on the route. The service, which was launched last summer, will be restored on June 11 with the 170-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline plans a total of 36 flights out of Riyadh to Montenegro’s capital this summer, up from 27 rotations last year. It will maintain a total of three weekly flights between the two cities. The seasonal service will run until August 31.

Bravo flynas! It's good to see more flights to KSA/Gulf countries!

It should be easier for Saudis to visit Montenegro now, I think they loosened the visa regime. The increase in frequencies is likely a sign that travel and tourism links between the two countries are moving in the right direction.

Visas are not required of Saudis to visit Montenegro during the summer and Montenegrins don't need visas to visit Saudi.

Very good, thank you. It seems that the demand is mainly towards Montenegro, outbound traffic is small, unlike in SJJ, there we also have a small segment of outbound tourists to Mecca and Medina. I wonder what places they visit in Montenegro, the coast, Podgorica, the mountains? The other is the bars and casinos by the sea and in general in the country, yet a large part of the country's population is of foreign origin - Indians, Pakistanis( not religious as saudis local peoples).

Every country in Europe should work to attract tourists from these countries. Just as an example, I will give Uzbekistan, which became a hit in just a moment, already last years during Covid and after this problem, in the country have flights there, tourists mainly visit the historical cities on the silk road such as Samarkand, it is cheap and first of all accessible thanks to the free visa regime. Montenegro we do same, I see more and more flights from these countries to Podgorica or Tivat. Visitors will increase everywhere from there, these are new and emerging markets, it is a matter of management and marketing that will attract more. Well, to a large extent all of this also happened because of the loosening of the regime in KSA, but…

Every capital city would definitely work, barring maybe Pristina (low tourism potential for KSA tourists unfortunately), assuming the visa situation was better

Indeed, many of the passengers in Tirana go to Kosovo. However, I support you that this is the weakest tourist market and therefore the least likely to be a strong route.

I was surprised that Sofia and Bucharest didn't work well with Wizz Air, could the person who mentioned religion be right? I wonder if Belgrade would work? They love green, Serbia can offer it as well as any Balkan country in general.

It's true that many Saudis that are landing in TIA go to Kosovo as well. I think it could definitely work seasonally combined with some outbound demand from PRN.

I don't know how things are with the visas, but definitely Slovenia could become a hit for Saudi citizens, they love the green, which is abundant here, combined with the local architecture and culture, would love it.

In the beginning, when Saudi citizens started traveling, they mostly went to Georgia, Egypt and Turkey. Later, new attractive destinations appeared for them, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Azerbaijan, Austria, Uzbekistan and even the Maldives. Certainly, the local population is in the process of rediscovering the world, after opening the country to the outside world and abandoning the nomadic barbaric traditions. KSA is expected to become an economic giant in the coming decades, with the development of the tourism industry and places like their new ski resort in the middle of the desert or the futuristic city of Neom tourism sector will explode, along with Hajj, Umrah.

It is no coincidence that Wizz Air wants to establish a subsidiary airline in Saudi Arabia. Such an airline would benefit from this country's planned future to become a leading global economy in the coming decades. In the coming years, the influx of workers from countries such as India, Pakistan and other countries in Central Asia and Southeast Asia will increase. Central Asia is a hot spot for them - workers and tourists in both directions. Montenegro should do more to attract tourists from this country as well as the other countries in the Persian Gulf. Despite the religion, the Montenegrin coast seems to be attractive to people from the Middle East and Central Asia.

Montenegro seems to be a substitute for Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian tourists. The point is to reach them as a number. I hope the situation normalizes. If we add the Russians to the new markets we will have good numbers. I wonder if flyadeal will set foot in Montenegro, they expanded significantly last summer in Europe, hopefully this year we will have a similar expansion.
