Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport has opened a new large walk-through Avolta Duty Free store, the newest incarnation of Avolta’s ‘store of the future’, which also includes several food and beverage outlets. A Welcome Bar greets travellers at the entrance with a range of beverages and ice-cream and a small seating area, while the “mind. body. Soul” café builds on the shop-in-shop concept to offer organic products such as fresh juices and healthy raw cakes with a dedicated small seating area. Rakia Bar offers a full selection of Rakia with customer sampling in a large bar and seating area, which is complemented by a full food menu. Alongside an Apple shop-in-shop concept, Avolta has introduced two additional shop-in-shop concepts as part of the duty free zone. This includes a wellbeing concept catering to the growing demand for health, wellbeing and sustainability focused products, as well as an Haute Parfumerie, elevating the fragrance discovery experience. The new duty free is located immediately past the security check area. Additional new stores are set to open in the coming period, including two dedicated children’s shops, “Candy Fair” and “Toy Fair”, alongside a specialised souvenir store “Belgrade Market”.

ReplyDeleteThe old one is still open. It will be partially integrated and partially removed to make way for the new Central Zone.
DeleteWhat interests me is if you can access directly the C gate area from the duty free shop or do you still have to walk around via Tesla Square to reach them? I hope they opened a passage as it would save a lot of time especially if you are in a rush and your flight departs from C13 or C14.
DeleteConsidering that their priority is commerce activity and not passengers' convenience (not only on BEG, this is a common thing today in any business activity), I would not expect passengers to be able to reach any gate without going through the shopping zone. I could be wrong, of course, I have no inside knowledge on this.
DeleteFrom what I remember they can still pass through a part of duty free before accessing the C gates. It just makes little to no sense to have someone walk all around especially if they are running late.

DeleteI just wonder why they didnt use real stone for the floor! These ceramics break easily and look cheap. I flew via Belgrade last week. 10 types of floor tiles used currently and even the newest ones already broken and not replaced. Vinci just wants max profit zero costs..

DeleteThey didn't use natural stone because it's heavy. The stone needed to cover such a big area is extremely heavy, and the building probably can't sustain such additional weight. Even if it can maintain that weight, the logistics of bringing heavy stones inside a working airport without proper heavy lifters will extend work in those areas for months.

ReplyDeleteI wasn't a fan of the floor when they put it but it might fit with the whole industrial look they are going for. This is a step in the right direction but I think we still need more places in the C gate area as well as in the pre-passport control zone.

ReplyDeleteHonestly, love it. Finally proud of what BEG is becoming - after all the mess I see brighter days coming. Maybe duty free is not the most important thing at an airport but this is looking great and adds to the aesthetics. And as a wine snob I still love grabbing me some bottles in duty free when going on a trip!
