Ryanair is preparing to operate a record number of flights from its base in Zagreb this coming 2024/25 winter season, which begins on October 27 and runs until March 29, 2025. The low cost carrier has upgraded its recently launched services to Pisa and Alicante from seasonal to year-round operations, with flights to continue to run twice per week throughout the winter. In addition, the airline plans to reinstate operations to Memmingen, which were discontinued this summer, with three weekly services resuming on October 28. Ryanair will upgrade its seasonal Thessaloniki flights to year-round, with the airline to maintain two weekly rotations to Greece’s second largest city over the winter period.
The budget carrier also intends on growing frequencies on a number of routes compared to last winter, with an additional two weekly flights added to London Stansted, for a total of nine weekly rotations, Malta, increasing to five weekly, Basel, for a total of four weekly, as well as Hahn and Weeze, which will run three times per week. Tickets for the new flights are now on sale through the airline’s website. On the other hand, services to Sandefjord and Naples, which were maintained twice per week last winter are yet to be scheduled, while flights to Bergamo have been reduced from four to three per week at this point. Further changes at this early stage remains possible.
Ryanair has currently scheduled an additional eight weekly flights from Zagreb compared to last winter season, with an additional 3.000 seats. Overall, it currently has 64 weekly flights scheduled out of Zagreb for this coming winter season, with 11.705 departing seats each week. “Ryanair, Croatia’s largest airline, has delivered low fares, connectivity, and tourism to Croatia for over fifteen years and has single-handedly driven Croatia’s post-Covid traffic recovery. How don't you get tired of "predicting" the doom of Zagreb Airport and being wrong for the last 10 years at least?
Although Alicante is a very important touristic spot, it works well in winter and after Madrid and Barcelona, it has the third largest area in Spain around the airport, in terms of population and GDP. Alicante-Elche is not Faro, Girona or Ibiza, popular spots, but quite seasonal and without big cities.

DeleteYup. At first I was skeptical about ZAG surpassing 4 million passengers this year and thought it would most likely reach ~ 4 million at best. After April, I think those predictions of 4.2 - 4.25 million have much more merit.

DeleteRyan adding 3k seats per week will increase ZAG passenger numbers in Q1 2025 by just over 4%, depending on actual LF. That number does not include impact by other carriers.

ReplyDeleteJust flew Lauda STN-ZAG return and it was very impressive, nice Croatian crew, on time and much better value + better flight times than OU. Flight was full both ways, let’s just hope it stays a lauda base and they don’t switch to horrible Ryanair 737 Max…
