Cyprus is getting 2 more A220 before the end of summer - and is expected to announce Ljubljana then.
    So good news all around

And where will they fly from LJU? Most of the routes served by Adria are now covered. I dont see the point in establishing new airline now after years. Air Montenegro reacted fast for reference.

They were expecting two used A220 before summer which are not received yet and the fate is not known. In addition, they had 6 new on order, which is canceled now and they intend to build their capacity on used A320. So Slovenia story is finished, I believe.

@10:41, @10:43 Yes they all have potential, however the main and most successful routes from LJU are already covered now. Those you named arent the proprities of any new airline. Imagine starting a new carrier and the first route is TIA.

CY has dropped plan to order 6 new A220 but now decided not to. So, they did not order them at all. But still expected to have 6 leased ones as planned. Source: ch-aviation.

      Cyprus Airlines now has:
      2 A320
      2 A220
6 A220 on order (all leased)

Cyprus Airlines DID NOT cancel that 6 lease order

Cyprus Airlines planned to order additional 6 A220 directly from Airbus (owned not leased), but they now abandoned that idea, that's all

2 A220 will come by the end of this summer (one by the end of this month most probably)

That's it, they did not change the current order, they simply decided not to pursue additional 6 owned units. Analiticar can't even translate CH article correctly

I would be very surprised if RO launches LJU or any other destination for that matter. They have serious shortage of planes and they actually discontinued several destinations among which is Heathrow (not available for booking in W24).
Their operations department is struggling big time as they can't get spare parts for their planes, especially ATRs.

Also, OTP is about to sue them for outstanding debt which is crazy since both OTP and RO are owned, run and supervized by the same ministry. I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to this story and if someone is pushing for RO to be shut down.

If they launch LJU then I am sure they will do it for the cash which they deseperately need right now.

Routes, previously covered by Adria are not yet fully relpaced by other airlines. Nor to even speak about the qullity of lines, by which I mean mostly timing and frequency.
Adria was vased in LJLJ, so all rhe lines started quite early in the morning and vy evening they returned. So, for vusiness fliers it was posdivle to fly to destination, conduct the business and return by evening. Now, that's mostly not possible in spite there is a lune with same destination. Plane gas to come to Ljubljana first, so departure from Lj will be at least 2 hours later and the return flight has to leave earlier since they return to their home base.
A business trip that rook one day, now takes mostly two with a sleepover. Untill we don't have our own aieline with the homebase here, we will not be well connected.

The downfall of AirFrance in LJU is crazy. But I guess also more and more people whose final destination is actually Paris choose to fly with Transavia to Orly as it is cheaper.

    1. Anonymous13:56

This. A lot of AF's capacity to Paris was transferred to Orly, which serves p2p demand far better. AF is still an excellent transfer carrier whereas Transavia offers affordable transfer options

LJU needs no home carrier, just 1-2 LCC to operate flights to Spain, Sweden, Tirana
Cool would be to still have AZ and OS on top of that and keep existing carriers

    1. Anonymous19:51

Granted, a home carrier would cover all of those

But Fraport doesn't want to try to bring in LCCs and non-*Alliance carriers, hence the issue

Varna, Burgas, Antalya are Fraport managed but all have several LCC incl Ryanair. In lower salary areas of Europe in my eyes, you can't do without LCC's. We see the success at other airports in former YU, so also LJU must work to attract more LCC in order to get the airport figures to 2 to 2.5 mio annual passengers
