NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport will begin Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) of its overhauled runway 12L/30R on October 30, according to a filing by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation - Eurocontrol. ORAT is a series of processes where checks and balances are put in place to identify and mitigate risks in a new or expanded piece of infrastructure before operational impacts can occur. ORAT is required to meet the final safety, security and regulatory compliance requirements before runway operations commence. According to Eurocontrol, “The reconstruction of the main runway 12L/30R is in its final phase. It will be followed with several processes in order to enable safe and reliable operational transfer of that runway back into operation, while temporarily putting the inserted runway 12R/30L out of operations and ensuring readiness of all relevant airport services for such transfer”. The refurbished 3.400-metre runway, which also includes four rapid exit taxiways, a new LED lighting system and drainage, was initially planned to be put into use this summer.

I flew yesterday to BEG and couldn't see that old firetruck that stood in front of apron B. It would be sad if they removed it, it was very cool. Does anybody know if they plan to return the old solaris flight timetable that stood over the old passport control. They should save those cool old stuff.

It makes sense. ORAT lasts just one day. So from 30-31 October.
