NEWS FLASH

Qatar Airways is considering restoring year-round flights between Doha and Sarajevo starting from the 2025 summer season. The carrier maintained services to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital throughout the year until the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. It resumed operations to Sarajevo in 2022 on a seasonal summer basis. The airline completed its Sarajevo summer flight program over the weekend, maintaining five weekly rotations, up from last year’s four weekly. Lolwah Al-Khater, Qatar’s Foreign Minister, said, “We have interest in cooperating in the field of tourism and there is hope Qatar Airways will reestablish year-round flights considering the large number of Qatari tourists visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina”. Last year, Sarajevo was one of the most popular destination for Qatari passport holders.

I thought they had an aircraft shortage, as the 320neos aren't due until 2026 and the 737 MAXes are only for short haul destinations

      > The lack of narrow-body equipment remains a deterrent for Qatar Airways, with its 29-strong Airbus A320 fleet fully utilised across its network, while its 737 MAX 8 jets are exclusively deployed on regional routes as they do not feature the carrier’s hard product. The airline is not expected to take delivery of new narrow-bodies until 2026
