NEWS FLASH

Lufthansa will increase operations from its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich to Belgrade next summer season. Starting in June, the German carrier will add and extra four weekly flights from Frankfurt to the Serbian capital for a total of 21 weekly or three daily services between the two cities. Furthermore, it will add an extra daily service between Munich and Belgrade for a total of three daily rotations. In total, the carrier plans to operate 42 weekly flights to Nikola Tesla Airport from June, up from 31 weekly in the summer of 2024. Lufthansa is prone to making revisions to its summer network in January and February. As a result, changes remain possible.

Munich was supposed to happen from April but they delayed it again. Seems like they still have staffing issues.
    No bueno.

I took their 11.00 am departure yesterday fron FRA to BEG on 321 and it was soldout. Service was ok but much better service and flight crew on JU outbound flight (Bulgarian E 190 aircraft) .

I am still confused. Many people in Belgrade criticise JU, and call them unprofessional. On the other hand, also many Germans criticise LH, because they have deterioated their product.

I think, LH is still much better than JU, but they live quite a bit from their old glory.

      Your opinion?

Lufthansa is popular because they are convenient and have an extensive network. With OS, EW and LX they can get you pretty much anywhere, several times per day. That is why no one can defeat them.

Germans, especially business people, believe in Lufthansa's technical quality and training. That is why they can charge whatever they want. They don't fly LH because of the service, they fly because they are confident in LH's safety.

They're also very active in binding businesses to them. One of my clients (a German company) has a contract with them, so I almost exclusively use LH flights when available (which is 90% of time), even when there are better routings available.

LH has everything that AirSerbia doesn’t have. Their cabin crew, loyalty programme, developed picture of safe company etc

JU is a company that has suffered from political turmoil since the 1990's.

Both JU and OU could make more out of their situation. Let’s face it, the other players are strong. EX YU is becoming better, but its opportunity costs are immense. JAT could have been maybe at least half as big as TK.

Really wow, but expect when they do not have big competition for connection passages especially for America, there is no anymore AirFrance, British and missing others. With 6 daily flights, they can base one aircraft at Belgrade(joke of course)

They probably do not increase FRA so much as they have there JU as a competitor.

But I thought the BEG-MUC market couldn't support more capacity and JU had no reason launching it.

That’s what the experts on this forum say and that JU cannot start MUC ops.

It can support more capacity but through LH as it connects onto their vast network. The reason why Munich is in the top 10 busiest in Europe is because it is Lufthansa's hub and in fact LH is more and more focusing transfers there.

And what about customers who want to connect from MUC to CAN, why is JU denying them that option by refusing to fly to MUC?

Perhaps there is not enough demand and an indicator of that may be that only Air China flies to Munich.

I fly with my family 5 times a year from Canada and use LH because of the Star Alliance points that I get and free lounges in YYZ, YUL, FRA and MUC with great food and showers. Otherwise I would fly JU in a heartbeat as their staff are the best.

LH needs to introduce SKP-MUC, If they can sustain 3 daily rotations to BEG - One dailiy for4 SKP will be sustained as well.

On LH quality - I flew with them multiple times from SKP to London via FRA and their inflight service and offer in the ecconomy class is basicaly a low cost airline quality if not worrst. 90% of my requests from the food menu was not available!!!
