Air Serbia wet-lease partners hiring Serbian crew

Bulgaria Air and Lithuania’s GetJet Airlines, both of which are Air Serbia’s wet-lease partners, are hiring Serbian cabin crew members in Belgrade. The crew will be primarily based out of the Serbian capital and deployed on flights operated on behalf of Air Serbia. GetJet Airlines will host an open day at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belgrade on January 22, with registration required beforehand. Further details are available here. On the other hand, Bulgaria Air will host its open day on February 8 at the same location. Further details can be found here. The Bulgarian flag carrier wet-leases two aircraft to Air Serbia, while GetJet wet-leases four. A wet-lease is a leasing arrangement whereby the lessor provides an aircraft, complete crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) to another airline.

    So we will most likely have an increase in wet-lease aircraft. We know for sure that Bulgaria Air will have 4 E190s in JU, so GetJet might increase as well to 6 aircraft.

      Thier CEO said they plan to sell in the future. Probably they are postponing due to good wet lease deal. JU should try different approach, but maybe they are searching for leased planes rather than buying

      Anon@13:56 They would sell to decrease costs by having one aircraft type less. No parts, no maintenance, no crew, no scheduling differences. Apparently not now, but eventually it will be cheaper to sell.

    Only interesting to know why Bulgaria and getjet agreed to it. Maybe their workers didnt want to spend so much time in Belgrade

      It has nothing to do with where staff want to spend time but with costs. Bulgaria Air and GetJet can pay Serbian staff less and do not have to pay for their accommodation in Belgrade either.

      But if Serbian staff are cheaper why would JU wetlease and pay higher crew cost when they can simply hire more Serbian crew themselves? This never made sense to me with these wet leases

      @anon 14:21 of course that it has everything with cost, but it cost them to pay Bulgarian cabin crews accommodation in Beg and with local staff there is no such expense; also is true that our people are not expecting more money than others as our standard is low. Third thing is that is very practical to have serbian speaking crew as Air Serbia guests are mostly domestic serbian customers...

    So this is basically what was planned with Marathon, something between wet and damp-lease. Mixed crew with native speakers is actually a good idea. On the other hand, this means that wet-lease agreements will stay for a long time.

    I wonder if all E190s will join Air Serbia. Also, reading Bulgaria air requirements for Serbian applicants and comparing their usual requirements for cabin crew in Bulgaria, I am more than shocked how they can differ. If you open their usual requirements they are half a page long, now they are similar to these in Wizz. Serbian speaking, right to live and work in Serbia and the mandatory arm reach of 210cm. While in Bg they require the old communist strict medical requirements which is not the case in easa anymore…

    It's about time JU Dry lease or even better buy some new/ used Aircraft. The passengers are not at all happy with all these Wet leased flights! They made record profits so can afford to do so!

      Mogu da kupe i 20 aviona kad nema ko da leti i odrzava te avione. Dosta pilota je otislo i mehanicara tako da sad krpe sa wet lease avionima. Deo flote vise ni ne odrzava AirSerbia… Lete prazan 330 za Milano da bi trenirali posadu..
