NEWS FLASH

Sarajevo Airport has launched new automated eGates to enhance passenger processing times. Positioned before security, these four gates scan boarding passes, allowing passengers quicker access to passport control and security checks. The upgraded technology is designed to improve upon the previous system, which relied on staff manually verifying boarding passes, however, those with paperless boarding passes will still have to be verified by staff. Automation is seen as a crucial improvement to the airport's operations, offering increased accuracy, reliability, and speed.

Nice addition. Although I think passport egates would be more worthwhile but this is a good start.

As long as eu is treating us as Mordor, passport egates only benefit them and have no practical use to anyone else.

Are you sure? I have never seen those in Belgrade, they always manually checked the boarding passes?

Folks, I know you will struggle to believe me (I also did when I experienced it this past Sunday), but here’s the thing: in order to be able to use the eGates, you need a boarding pass printed at check-in (yes, the paper “version”…); if you have an Apple (Google or whatever else) issued pass, you will have to queue and get it checked manually (I know, beyond comical…). Yes, I’m the chap who travels out of SJJ every single week, and things are getting worse-and-worse. This past Sunday, you couldn’t walk past security because people were queuing for passport control (little space between security and the border boots). Once they realised that FRA was calling the last pax to go immediately to the gate, they decided to open an extra boot. It’s going to be fun this summer…

Yes, that was the case before as well, since online check in does not provide a QR code. I dont believe that eGates will speed up the process, given that you still need to get paper boarding pass at the check in desk. However, it does look more modern and reduces the workload for airport staff.

Same as Ini, paper bps cant be read because the printers are not adequate, thats what the lady checking them said. Digital bps can only be read if your a local, but you cant get a digital bp as a local cause you have to do a visa check at the deck. Magic Balkan loop lol

Online check-in (LOT, but no OU/JU/etc.) now generates a “proper” boarding pass (i.e., with the QR code), but it still won’t work. Also, if one turns up with an electronic boarding pass earlier than 2 hours before the flight, the ladies at the “manual check” won’t be happy for some odd reason (I get told to go and see “her colleague”…), let’s not even mention that they got rid of the fast track and that you can’t get a coffee with milk (or macchiato/cappuccino/whatever) at the “premium” lounge because “the machine doesn’t work with powder milk and is not suitable for normal milk…”. I love my city and I’m not one who’s up for useless or “cheap” criticism, but the whole thing is beyond comical… And again, with the increase of traffic in summer, things are going to get tough for pax… #Welcome back to 1984.
