NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and Skopje Airport have been named among the top ten best in Eastern Europe at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Madrid yesterday. Belgrade Airport was placed seventh among Eastern Europe’s best airports, up from ninth position last year, while Skopje ranked tenth. It marks the ninth consecutive year Belgrade has positioned within the top ten, while Skopje made a comeback to the list after six years. On the other hand, it was the first time in several years that Zagreb did not enter the top ten in the category. Furthermore, no airport in the region was among the top 100 best airports in the world, with Singapore Changi Airport taking the title, followed by Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Tokyo Haneda. The 2025 World Airport Awards were based on thirteen million customer nominations across 100 nationalities of air travellers and included 575 airports worldwide.

World Airport Awards 2025 - Best airports in Eastern Europe

The World Airport Awards began in 1999, when Skytrax launched its first global airport customer satisfaction survey. They are regarded as a quality benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities. The evaluation took place between August 2024 to February 2025. Categories include the world’s best airport, most improved airport, airport with the best staff, best security, and best transit airport, to name a few. According to Skytrax, the survey and awards process is independent and guaranteed free of any airport influence or interference in the final results. There is no entry fee or any type of payment by an airport (or other third party) to be included in the survey or awards, with the survey and awards process fully funded by Skytrax. It evaluates customer satisfaction across forty key performance indicators for airport service and product - from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, and immigration, through to departure at the gate. The World Airline Awards, also organised by Skytrax, will be held later this year.

FCO in deed is good, epsecially cause of their security checks. You pass security in FCO within no time.

Exactly, I experienced that couple weeks ago especially in the Schengen zone, when I travelled back to Thessaloniki, the security check was 2 minutes

FCO has latest technology of x ray machines. No need to take out liquids or lap tops fm yr bags. I personally like also the Hangar Lounge of ITA. They have staff at toilets which clean nonstop, similar to the QR lounges in DOH.

Sofia at #2 immediately delegitimizes this entire ranking. The airport consists of T1 which is a decrepit ancient terminal now converted to low-cost use, and T2 which is new, but has all the comforts and visual charm of a metro station - I genuinely can't think of a more characterless legacy terminal in Europe.

ZRH def not Nr. 10. No airconditions or proper cooling system available throughout the airport. All year too warm and from May until end Sep too humide. People are complaining nonstop, even airport staff.

Which airports belong to "eastern european"? , and what was the criteria? 'cause Macedonia and Serbia, Bulgaria don't belong to East, but South East Europe, where is Athens then?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Anonymous14:31

Former Eastern block countries are all considered as east European by most people in Europe.
Greece, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, Austria, Finland and Scandinavia are considered western European despite being geographically on the eastern part of the continent.

Belgrade is simply the best. More than 6 yrs under concession, 3 yrs since C extension was opened and 2 yrs Processor building opened. In those 3 yrs only Bistro F&B opened in new C7-C14 extension. In Tesla Sq from F&B outlets In&Out opened where Kapital used to be. No updates on Ambar, Burrito Madre, Monument in T1. No F&B opened in renovated A5-A10 concourse but Plum Bar construction site is closed. Oh BEG you're the best, better than all the rest!!!

Passengers departing or transferring through airside at BEG in the past couple of years just have to deal with the fact it takes less time to build similar-sized Terminal from the scratch than to open 5-6 food and beverage outlets.

Does the fact BEG is voted Top 10 mean responsible for record-breaking delays in opening those outless can now relax and take an even slower approach?

Just look at the new main entrance at Processor building departure level. It has been plastered with "Work in progress" signs and covers for 3 years. Astonishing incompetence but who cares, let's celebrate Top 10 rating!!!
