Hainan Airlines handled 49.345 passengers on its flights between Beijing and Belgrade in 2024 with an average cabin load factor of 80.6% for the duration of the year. The carrier runs two weekly flights between the two capitals. Almost all flights were maintained with the Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a mixd configuration of either 281 seats or 292 seats due to a different business class configuration. The airline also deployed its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on seven rotations with the capacity to seat 287 passengers.
Good results, but is there a place for JU to jump in with two extra weekly rotations?
ReplyDeleteDid you check if JU has approval for flights to Beijing? Does it make more sense to ensure success of new routes to Guangzhou and Shanghai, expanding PVG if possible?
DeleteIt's up to Chinese authorities to issue permission to JU. If they want to.
DeleteWell, the Chinese can only issue it if JU applies to receive it. It's up to Air Serbia to make the first move.
DeleteYes, I checked. It is not a problem to receive reciprocity flights, once the Chinese company already have a route. It's up to JU to apply for them

DeleteBetter used to expand frequency on existing routes or open new routes than compete with Hainan.
DeleteOnly existing routes which could maybe use extra flights are PVG and JFK.
DeletePEK is excellent choice for JU, because a lot of Euro connections is possible. More and more European airlines are closing Chinese routes, which may boost this route from the very beginning

ReplyDeleteI remember last winter and summer they requested to operate a third weekly flight but each time their plans fell through. I guess they redirected this capacity elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteWith the US-China trade war in full swing, I expect both cargo and passenger demand to drop. Maybe they will redirect some of this capacity towards BEG.
With more flights to PEK they could become more competitive when it comes to transfers.
80% lf is not great, especially for route that is operated few years already. That should be better
ReplyDeleteNo. It is actually a fair load factor for a long haul route that has seasonal shifts. Some people here truly are clueless when it comes to aviation.
