NEWS FLASH

The Montenegrin government is currently assessing which routes will be subsidised under the planned Public Service Obligation (PSO) scheme. As previously reported, the subsidies are intended to support year-round air services on routes considered vital to Montenegro’s economic development and social connectivity.

In a statement, the Montenegrin Ministry for Transport said, "Under the PSO model, it is standard practice for each route to be operated by a single carrier in order to ensure service quality and efficiency. The number of routes to be designated as PSO will be determined based on market needs, budgetary capacity and strategic priorities. The exact number of routes per year will be known following a detailed analysis and public procurement process. The Ministry, in cooperation with relevant institutions, is currently assessing potential routes that could be declared PSO, taking into account criteria defined by national regulations and EU legislation. Priority is given to destinations that enhance connectivity with key European administrative, economic and transport hubs, as well as those deemed important for citizens, the economy, and international cooperation. Among the potential routes under consideration are connections to cities such as Brussels, due to its significance in the context of Montenegro’s European integration efforts".

Can we expect something similar in Ljubljana, since everyone on here is talking about PSO tenders in October?

Which route from Montenegro could really qualify as PSO?
Maybe TGD BRU as it's the headquarters of NATO and EU, so there are legitimate needs for people ro travel between the 2 cities.
All other routes if inexistants it's because the studies have proven them uneconomical or even uneeded.

      Why not to Washington DC?
Thats NATO and EUs real headquarter.
But seriously, why do we need PSO in Montenegro?
That kind of route makes only sense in big countries with a domestic network like Australia or Canada.

Realistically speaking there is only one route that is of vital importance and that is TGD-BEG which does not need subsidies.
All others are political routes with inadequate demand.
