Sarajevo Airport recorded its busiest July to date by handling 292.574 passengers, representing an increase of 8.7% on the same month last year. The number of aircraft movements grew 13.9% to 2.433. During the January - July period, Sarajevo Airport welcomed 1.240.318 travellers through its doors, up 25% year-on-year, or an additional 248.176 passengers. Growth is expected to continue into August, with capacity on scheduled services currently up 15.6% on 2024.

DeleteRe: Anon 18:07 Did you check other airports as well? For instance Zagreb scheduled capacity in July was 630k as per data provided on this website and number of passengers 470k (approx 75%), Pristina scheduled capacity 560k vs 458k (approx 82%) passengers etc.

ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the Premium Lounge at SJJ? Earlier in the year there were meats, salads, some things to heat up, cakes etc, laid out like a restaurant as well as some Malt. Now it’s the same as the lounge downstairs- almost no food. It went from good to terrible?
DeleteI am going to ignore the hateful comments about SJJ but personally SJJ is on the right track on being a successful as Tirana turned out to be. Having only positive numbers for 7 months in a row, it is not that bad as people make it, and the difference with the last year, is a huge gap. New airlines came this year and started scheduling flight to SJJ. Bravo SJJ ! Të uroj shumë fat pasi Ballkani meriton të ketë momentin e tij tani! <3
ReplyDeleteTirana is the only airport in albania with regular passenger services it is extremely successful because albania is a massive tourist destination and a country with poor road conditions which makes flying into it much more convenient than driving, but Sarajevo and bosnia in general on the other hand are not tourist destinations and with no possibility of connections through it there is no way that it will reach Tirana numbers any time soon.
DeleteSarajevo and Bosnia are indeed tourist destinations, obviously the sea and tour agency packages will draw more tourists to Albania or Croatia, but Bosnia has been a hidden gem with serious tourism growth for a decade. It already has more tourists than Montenegro oficially. It would be nice if both reported private accomodations numbers without evading tax but well
DeleteIn 2024, Bosnia and Herzegovina saw over 2 million tourist arrivals, a 10.3% increase compared to the previous year., with overnight stays exceeding 4 million. The growth was primarily driven by foreign visitors, who accounted for 70.5% of the total overnight stay.... and who says that Bosnia is not tourist destination??? have you ever been to Sarajevo or Mostar. DeleteSarajevo will likely never reach the passenger numbers of Tirana, and probably not even Pristina or Skopje. And that's ok. The main reason is geography. Around 1.5 million Bosnians live abroad, mostly in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. Many of them DRIVE to Bosnia because it’s only a 7 to 12-hour trip — not too bad. That’s not the case for Skopje, Pristina, or Tirana, which are much farther by car.
DeleteSarajevo Airport is growing thanks to tourism, which gives it long-term potential. But anyway, who cares, the airport is developing nicely and there is a positive perspective ahead. And yes, do not forget Bosnia has 3 more functional airports, not with a huge pax number, but still these airports take passengers from Sarajevo.
