NEWS FLASH
Belgrade has become one of Flydubai’s busiest destinations in Europe following an increase in frequencies from fourteen to seventeen per week. Nikola Tesla Airport currently ranks as the carrier’s second most served on the continent, behind only Moscow with 49 weekly flights. It will move to third from the start of the winter season after Bucharest is increased to 21 weekly. As EX-YU Aviation News learns, Flydubai has signalled interest in further growing its frequencies at Belgrade Airport. The airline now offers 5.644 seats per week between the two cities. In 2024, Dubai was one of Belgrade’s busiest routes with 182.499 passengers.
I hope this is a signal for Emirates to arrive to Belgrade.
ReplyDeletePersonally I hope not. I would rather have 21 weekly on FZ than daily flights on EK.
DeleteI don't think BEG can handle anything more than a daily Emirates flight.
No, that’s clear signal that JU should finally wake up and start AUH or DBX. Due yesterday!
DeleteThe ship has sailed on JU launching DXB. FZ has become just too strong and they have a strong brand awareness due to many years of continuous service.
DeleteFZ has the massive advantage of cooperating with EK. There are other markets where JU should focus on, starting with those they serve with 2 or 3 weekly flights.
Huh, just today is announced that exclusive contract is signed between basketball EuroLeague and Etihad Airways. That could mean that Etihad would start flying to all EuroLeague host cities. And Belgrade host three of them plus one in EuroCup
Delete@nemjee
DeleteNonsense. With such a huge demand plus closure of Wizz Abu Dhabi, there have to be space for JU to jump in. And it happend to be some free A330 capacity available, just adequate to opose FZ’s development on the route
As W6 does not fly anymore to AUH there is a room for FlyDubai (decreased frequency) and Emirates on route to DXB.
DeleteFlew with them few couple of times and each time it was fully packed. Thing I didnt like was width for legs, as on every regular lowcost carrier. But this is flight of 6h or somewhat so it was really unpleasent for cca 190cm guy.
DeleteOn the other hand, as our company was paying those tickets, they also purchased meald in advance and I have to say I liked meals.
Couple* not few

DeleteI am not saying that they can't, of course they can. However, they will need to spend a lot more money to fight FZ on the BEG-UAE market.
Air Serbia has never fought a battle for a 6 hour flight market. Here their costs and the investment would be much higher than they were in GVA, LCA, NCE etc.
The time for a quick response was before FZ boosted BEG to 17 weekly.
The silent achiever.
ReplyDeleteIf they manage to get to 21 weekly in BEG then they will make it harder for anyone to make BEG-AUH work.
Dubai will become just too competitive and far more convenient.
AUH DXB is already too late for JU.
DeleteFZ presence is already too strong and their ties with EK make them the first choice of travel anywhere beyond DXB.
Living in Abu Dhabi, I found that traveling to Belgrade from Dubai is not convenient. most of us from Abu Dhabi should rather travel with Qatar or Turkish, then to go to Dubai
DeleteIf that's the case and if the AUH market is truly that big then someone will jump in to take care of it.
DeleteThat should be JU.
DeleteWhen Wizz Air Abu Dhabi's passengers are added to last year there were over 200,000 passengers flying between Belgrade and UAE which is huge.
ReplyDeleteWhy they just don't send a330?
ReplyDeleteFlydubai does not have A330s in its fleet.
DeleteThey might send the B787 to BEG when they get it.
DeleteWith Wizz Air Abu Dhabi gone, with Etihad not rushing to resume BEG, with Qatar Airways being disinterested in BEG... FZ is certainly making the most of the situation.
Their 3 extra flights are ideal both ways. DXB-BEG connects onto everything and anything that has arrived around midnight while their BEG-DXB is fantastic for locals. This might shift some of the O&D market onto their 09.00 departure making more room for transfers on other two flights.
What happened with Skopje flights?
ReplyDeleteThey gave up on them most likely.
DeleteDemand was never there, even when they fly their LF was around 60%. I think it was even reported on here.
As a reminder SKP had both FZ and QR flights - demand was there, perhaps just not for 2 ME carriers
DeleteDemand is there but in which percentage
DeleteThe demand for travel to the UAE is huge, that is missed opportunity for JU.

DeleteAnd that's normal for a small to medium airport like BEG .For the bigger ones Emirates is taking over .
ReplyDeleteWhich one has Emirates takes over Einstein?
DeletePRG, LCA, MLA, ATH, BUD, BLQ, WAW etc.
DeleteEmirates has not taken over Prague, or Larnaca, or Malta, or Athens or Budapest or Warsaw or Bologna. In fact Emirates was flying to all those cities BEFORE Flydubai. And they now fly to all those cities together since Flydubai started flying there. Work on your argument Einstein.
DeleteBravo BEG 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteEmirates should take over some of Flydubais multiple daily flights to Moscow - best would be a fourth daily flight arriving after midnight.
ReplyDeleteThus Flydubai could get a lot of capacity made free for further expansion into the European market.
^ Flydubai has two arrivals after midnight.
DeleteIf they merge them into one and operate it with a 777 it would free 14 weekly lights with 737-800. Flight duration is five hours.
Flydubai could add four weekly flights to Belgrade and still have ten rotations left.
Which would even make a return to Skopje possible + increasing frequencies in Zagreb and Ljubljana..
Would love to see Emirates operate DXB-BEG-LJU!
ReplyDeleteI Flydubai only when connecting with Emirates towards my final destination in SE Asia, which is only when Emirates offers the best rate. So it's either Emirates, Turkish, Qatar - they rotate between themselves as if there's some kind of agreement in place...
ReplyDeleteDo AirSerbia would make sense -to me- only if there was a code share with Emirates, which isn't possible because of Flydubai.
I'd like to see AS flying non-stop to Bali tho, that'd be very cool.
That agreement with price fixing is called cartel....
