Montenegro and Saudi Arabia recently signed a new bilateral air transport agreement, paving the way for flights between the two countries. The deal was formalised by Montenegro’s Minister of Transport, Maja Vukićević, and her Saudi counterpart, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser. According to Montenegro’s Ministry of Transport, the agreement creates the legal basis for airlines to establish flights between the two countries, with the aim of boosting tourism flows, encouraging investment and strengthening overall ties. Speaking at the signing, Ms Vukićević emphasised that opening the skies to Saudi Arabia also means opening doors to fresh opportunities for Montenegro. “This is an important step toward better global connectivity for Montenegro and its positioning as an attractive destination in the Middle East”, she said. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation noted, "This partnership supports the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Civil Aviation Strategy, which seeks to build global partnerships and foster international cooperation in civil aviation, enabling national carriers to expand their operational networks worldwide".
