NEWS FLASH
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport handled 176.246 passengers in September, representing an increase of 13.1% on the same period last year. This number of aircraft movements grew 1.8% to 2.382. Over the first three quarters of the year, the airport welcomed 1.233.329 travellers through its doors, an improvement of 8.6%, or an additional 98.028 passengers. The figure is still down 15% on the pre-pandemic 2019. Strong growth is expected to continue throughout the upcoming winter season.
Ljubljana's largest airlines by scheduled seat capacity, September 2025
the only airport in the broader region still relevantly legging behind 2019. the best airport operator at its best.
ReplyDeletealso the only airport who lost his main airline with more than 50% traffic.
DeleteAlso a complete lie. 10:34 hasn't yet heard of Celovec or Gradec.
DeleteInteresting is the number of Trade Air 🤔
ReplyDeleteEveryone is shitt*ng on Fraport but if you look at it, they have done just as good as they have planned. I remember them saying in 2020 that full recovery is expected around the year 2026, and if the growth of ~ 15 to 20 % continues into next year, precovid numbers could be achieved. So in reality, they are doing just as good as they think they should be. Now, do I think they are doing enough? Absolutely not.
ReplyDeleteWhat's good about being one of the European markets hardest hit by the Covid crisis? Should've done a way better job.
DeleteAnyone can be a smartass after the battle and from the comfort of their couch.
DeleteYou're basically saying "Others should do more for my comfort".
So sorry that we do not see comfort in transiting via other hubs and want more p2p routes instead, how dare we
DeleteAdria is gone. What was Fraport supposed to do, start a new airline?
DeleteIncentivies opening the base, like dozens of other airports do? I think they could do more in that department especially before Ryanair opened ZAG base (which sees good numbers of Slovenians too).
DeleteFraport does have incentives, they offer 6 months of no airport and handling fees for new routes. If you want Ryanair in Slovenia, you'll need to reform the whole tax system or outright pay them to come. Ryanair is in Zagreb with Lauda to spite VIE and to kill off Croatia Airlines.
DeleteThis is not true. Fraport Slovenia has an incentive scheme, but different as stated by @anon 16:17. There is some significant discount on year 1, much less on year 2 and even less on year3. but there is no free period, the discount is valid only if the new route is operating all year. And what is important - they don't allow to combine with state subsidy.
DeleteNow we need WIZZair to connect Ljubljana and Belgrade.
ReplyDeleteAny truth in Croatia starting Dubrovnik-Ljubljana?
ReplyDeleteI hope so, even Split would be great, but Dubrovnik is a must...Especially if they put the price at around 80€ one way
DeleteIt would be great, Dubrovnik is really far from Ljubljana.
DeleteWhat is the source of this rumour?
DeleteNo. It is made up based on the fact that the head of Slovenian tour operator said it would be nice to have flights to Dubrovnik.
DeleteSome Slovene travel agencies are negotiating flights to Dubrovnik an Brač for the next summer. It's not just their wishful thinking: Usually they come with a deal for charters not regular flights.
DeleteWizz Air to TGD, IB to MAD and VY to BCN will further push the numbers in 2026. If Wizz is not opening a base in LJU, at least their flights ex other bases will boost the numbers. Would be cool to see Wizz Air opening flights ex Rome and Tirana to LJU too. Hopefully LX will go to double daily during SUTT one day too. SK should open CPH and than Norwegian should fly ex ARN to LJU istead of CPH. Lets wait and see, but at least there is some growth in LJU 😊
ReplyDeleteAlso easyJet to Manchester will probably be extended into the summer, Aegean will be three weekly, AirBaltic to Riga will be three weekly, Turkish will be 18pw from April onwards, Finnair is having an around 20 % capacity increase in May and June ... It's not all doom and gloom for Ljubljana anymore :D

Delete@18:03 There's no Ryanair so that means the airport is basically useless.
