NEWS FLASH

The past week has seen the introduction of twelve new routes from former Yugoslav markets as the 2025/26 winter season gets underway.

Wizz Air has begun its winter expansion from Skopje, introducing flights from the Macedonian capital to Stockholm, Bari, Madrid and Larnaca, as well as from Ohrid to Basel. “I’m very pleased that five new routes are being launched from both Skopje and Ohrid airports, made possible with the support of the government and thanks to Wizz Air’s dedication. I’m confident these five destinations will prove popular, and I’d like to add something very important - these new routes reflect the preferences of our passengers, of travellers who have long awaited direct connections between these cities and our two airports here in Macedonia. I also wish to thank our team at TAV Airports for their commitment and contribution in preparing these new destinations, which we can now proudly share with our passengers”, the General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said.

airBaltic commenced its new weekly seasonal winter service between Las Palmas on the Canary Islands. Mantas Vrubliauskas, Vice President Network Management at airBaltic, said, “We are delighted to further expand our operations from Ljubljana with the introduction of direct flights to Gran Canaria. This new connection gives travellers the opportunity to experience the island’s golden coastline, volcanic landscapes and pleasant year-round climate, while also creating new opportunities for visitors from Spain to discover Slovenia. It is our second route from Ljubljana, complementing the existing year-round service to Riga”. Babett Stapel, Managing Director of airport operator Fraport Slovenija, added, “We are very pleased to welcome airBaltic’s new direct service between Ljubljana and Las Palmas, which further strengthens the connectivity of our airport. The route will provide travellers with a comfortable and convenient link to one of the most popular holiday destinations among Slovenians. This addition to our flight offering is the result of our strong partnership with airBaltic, the efforts of Slovenian tour operators, the incentive programme of the Ministry of Infrastructure, and our shared commitment to improving Slovenia’s air connectivity”.

The week also saw easyJet introduce flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Belgrade, as well as from Zurich and Lyon to Pristina. Furthermore, Wizz Air commenced operations between Belgrade and Madrid. However, there were no special ceremonies held for these additions. Because why would there be a ceremony for frequencies on a route shifting between LHG airlines?

THANKS for all the coverage from these special moments. I think especially for LJU this LPA flights are a real added value. I hope they will do well and remain also the next years.
LJU needs flights/destinations not just for tourists but for SLO too. And LPA is such a destination.
