NEWS FLASH
Ryanair will introduce a new service between Poznan and Podgorica. Flights will commence on May 3 and run twice per week, on Thursdays and Sundays. Further flight details can be viewed here. The development comes just days after Wizz Air announced a new two-aircraft base in Podgorica in 2026, which will also include two weekly flights to Poznan on exactly the same days. Poznan becomes Ryanair’s fourth Polish route from the Montenegrin capital, joining Krakow, Gdansk and Wroclaw.

And the fight begins.
ReplyDeleteIt’s starting to get bloody. Ryan started Poznan twice a week.
Deleteit wont be a real bloodbath like in TIA or SOF until ryan get 2-3 planes in Podgorica.
DeleteThe market in TGD is not that big so that two LCC have base there.
DeleteI am afraid this can be a disaster for TGD. Wizz Air will fight RyanAir until one wins which in this case that would most likely be Wizz since they will open a base in TGD. Meanwhile Air Montenegro could collapse and at the end someting will happen and Wizz will find a better place for its two A21Ns and close the base just like they did in Tuzla and TGD will

Just like TIA or SOF are a disaster because FR and W6 compete. SMFH...
Deleteyes, OP is right. SOF prospered well during 2 years of face to face clash and than that fight calmed down and passengers numbers went down
DeleteTIA and SOF are so much bigger than tiny TGD. This has got disaster all over it
DeleteWell, Montenegro still is a tourist destination, so the development carries no sign of disaster whatsoever.

DeleteThe exact opposite happened.
SOF now has wayyyy more passengers and connectivity than it did before these two started fighting for market share.
The new equilibrium point of the DOF market greatly increased because W6anf FR's fight put the destination on the radar of many tourists.
The exact same thing happened to OTP and is currently happening in YIA. 🤷♂️
are you seriously comparing city of 2M inhabitants and EU capital (Bucharest) with Podgorica? what a deuce.. Some people just like to argue for nothing and everything! Well done internet warrior!
DeleteRomania and Bulgaria are big countries with huge diaspora and much richer than Montenegro.

DeleteThe only deuce here is you. Who thinks that two LCCs fighting to get as many pax as possible to your market is somehow bad! I think Albania is having a terrible time with all these extra visitors it got from W6 and FR fighting it out.
And I'm also sure that SOF and OTP doubled their pax numbers just from their gastarbeiters and not from tourists discovering them because of FR and W6!
Wizz and Ryanair in Podgorica are competing barely on any routes. In actual fact, had you been following the news here, Ryanair has significantly reduced operations in Podgorica. In winter they have just 1 route. These routes from Poland to Montenegro are mainly in conjunction with tour operators and the number of flights reflects there demands. The airline that will be hurt the most is Air Montenegro, which used to do charters to Poland but not anymore.
DeleteSo you are arguing that instead of FR and W6 fighting to brink as many visitors as possible in MN they should rely on Air Montenegro and actively protect it from competition!
DeleteLOL, it is getting funnier and funnier!
I wonder what the LF will be on all the new Wizz routes in January and February? TGD is a village compared to the likes of Sofia and Bucharest.
ReplyDeleteLF will be very bad in winter for sure
DeleteRyanair really wants to fight Wizz Air in lots of markets recently. Same in Bratislava, where Ryanair announced 7+ same routes as Wizz on the exact same days and sometimes only minutes apart from Wizz flights.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have seen Ryanair launch a route from Poznan to SJJ than going up against Wizz Air in TGD. Bosnia and Herzegovina is getting more and more popular among Polish tourists (I'm not saying that Montenegro isn't popular among them), and since Ryanair don't fly to OMO, the route could also attract some Polish pilgrims going to Međugorje.
ReplyDeleteBravo
ReplyDeleteI've seen some airports in south-east Asia, size same like TGD, who are handling 5 different airlines on the same route, with frequency of each not below 3 flights daily...airpot is Surathani..And they all function perfectly full of pax
