NEWS FLASH
Austrian Airlines will begin a new seasonal service between Vienna and Ohrid in 2026. The carrier will launch flights between the two cities on Sunday May 17, with the service initially operating weekly, before increasing to two weekly on July 9. The carrier will deploy its Airbus A320 aircraft on the route. Flights will conclude on September 27. Further details are available here. The development comes after Wizz Air announced plans to discontinue flights between Vienna and Ohrid due to the upcoming closure of its base in the Austrian capital. It will launch flights from Bratislava to Ohrid in 2026 instead. Austrian Airlines becomes the latest flag carrier to commence operations to Ohrid, following Turkish Airlines' seasonal launch this year.

Finally Ohrid has been getting some love lately. It really dire for a moment there.
ReplyDeleteAfter Covid19 it stagnate alot and comes to level to have just 2-3 operational routes, now its getting on the road where it needs to be finally👏
DeleteBravo Ohrid!
ReplyDeleteWell done for everyone who finally are wake up from the sleeping and starts working and bring more new routes and airlines to OHD
DeleteI suppose Wizz is not flying to Ohrid anymore?
ReplyDeleteYes, they discontinued Vienna and are launching Bratislava instead

They are still flying VIE-OHD.
DeleteW6 still flying, they will cut VIE-OHD in March 2026 and OS will start flights just less then 2 months after that
DeleteGood stuff. Best of luck, OS.
ReplyDeleteOHD deserves more and more , this is good beggining!!
DeleteBravo 👏
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteThat is a smart one from Austrian - They might do well with 3 times a week especially if they deploy the embraers.
ReplyDeleteThey are getting rid of Embraers
DeleteThey will be replaced by EN (Air Dolomiti) Embraers
DeleteEN will be getting some of OS’s Embraers, but they won’t necessarily operate flights for OS.
DeleteThis winter EN already started to operate flights for OS!
DeleteThree weekly with Austrian to Ohrid?? In what universe would that work?
DeleteSwiss is flying 3 weekly, Turkish and Air Serbia 4 ...
DeleteSwiss does not fly to Ohrid.
Deleteoh well Edelweiss ....
Delete3x in OHD in summer peak will be served without issues!!
DeleteIn a realistic and smart universe an@12:38.
Delete2 flights with A320 x 180 seats = 360 seats a week.
3 flights with embraer x 120 seats = 360 seats a week.
Seat capacity is the same, just more choice to the customers.
Viktor dont try to explain them , we all know airports as OHD in summer can sustain any route easily 2 to 3x weekly, especially route who brings tourist to such a destination like Ohrid , dont waste ur time with someone wbo is here just writing nonsense comment on any MKD article
DeleteBravo!
ReplyDeleteHas Austrian Airlines ever flown to Ohrid?
ReplyDeletethey actually did during their "Focus East" times before being taken over by LH
Delete@12.40 before taken over by LH they were a loss making company
Deletehow brilliant is that? 🥰
ReplyDeleteAmazing , I didnt expect this after W6 leaves VIE but this is amazing news!!
DeleteVery good, so more Europeans can discover the beautyness of the Lake Ohrid region
ReplyDeleteJust need to add some Baltic airports and France and OHD is all set up👍
DeleteTurkish, Austrian, Air Serbia and Edelweiss (Swiss), not bad for a small airport
ReplyDeleteOHD finallt getting what deserves and slowly getting back on the road
DeleteThis is not going to work. Roundtrip ticket for June is almost 400 euros. With that money you can go with car from Vienna to Ohrid twice. Everyone will use BTS-OHD now cause it will be cheaper. If OS wants to make this work then a roundtrip ticket should not be more than 100 euros, even that would be expensive for some people when they will see BTS-OHD flights for half of that price.
ReplyDeleteYeah but with OS you can also get transfer passangers. It's not exclusive P2P traffic.
Deletethey have only now just put it in their system
DeleteThey just launch the route that ticket price will not be the same in the system as time goes , plus it is flag carrier what giwes you transfer option , no flag carrier will fly or flying for 100 eur roundtrip !!!
DeleteAir Serbia is doing that. Many times you can find cheap resonable prices for Turkish Airlines as well, British Airways, Air Baltic, ITA. OS is almost always expensive for dirrect traffic. Nobody is going to pay that much for one ticket. Even Croatia Airlines have better prices then this one.
Deleteyet they fly two daily to Skopje, damn are you triggered by every good news regarding MK
Deletethey try to explain to you that its the first day these flights are put in the system, there are not even proper transfer options available to book yet but you have come to the big conclusion already. Go ring the Austrian Airlines number and tell them!!
and guess what its already not 400€ anymore ...
Every flag carrier tickets are expensive , one way to IST from SKP is 150 eur , you cannot compare low cost carrier with this, they are good only for P2P people but not for transfers. OHD deserves those flights and hopefully more will come!!!
DeleteLovely addition! Have not seen this coming! Congratulations Ohrid. I hope more tour operators will discover the region!
ReplyDeleteCorret OHD deserves more operators , it has potential and could bring more European airlines
DeleteBravo Ohrid. This is a route that BNX, TZL and OMO should also try to get.
ReplyDeleteVIE is used alot from Ex-yu citizens for those living there, and alot for transfering for USA-Canada flights , it is not so big hub ,easy to navigate and affordable prices for flag carrier , with a good options of connections for Europe,Asia and North America
DeleteWhat is alot?
Delete@19:47 Exactly. That's why I think BNX, TZL and OMO should try to get those flights.
Delete19:49 any plane from Ex-yu airports to VIE is always full that means alot , VIE,WAW,FRA,IST are the main airports where Ex-yu citizens travelling the most
Delete19:47 yes every airport here deserves VIE flights , affordable prices, mid size hub, great connectivity, easy navigation....
DeleteWoW! Amazing! 😍
ReplyDeleteI couldnt be more happier when I saw this🍀
Deletethey launched seven new summer destinations, OS clearly filling the gap left by Wizzair and Ryanair
ReplyDeleteBy the way - question for admin:
ReplyDeleteWhat is happening with the "Ohrid Airport overhaul to begin in October"?
Do you have any news on this?
izborni vetuvanja
DeleteNe e vetuvanje na vladata , toa e na TAV , parite se od TAV ne od vladata ....
DeleteIstanbul,Amsterdam,Zurich,Basel,Belgrade,London Gatwick,Manchester,Katowice,Wroclaw,Bratislava,Dortmund,Memimgen,Milan Malpensa and now Vienna with OS, with all this OHD is starting to be a serious small player in the region and a game changer ,well done best of luck. I think the more routes are coming in future...
ReplyDeleteHi Admin , do you have info will TK resumes flights to OHD in 2026 ? I check their booking system ,there is no any dates available even they said they will resume flights back on 29th March 2026 ? Thank you
