Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport registered its busiest October on record by handling 811.415 passengers, representing an increase of 7.9% on the same month last year. The number of commercial aircraft movements grew 2.1%. Over the January - October period, the airport welcomed 7.611.849 travellers through its doors, an improvement of 6.1%. The airport is expected to see continued growth throughout November, with scheduled seat capacity currently up 11.2%.

Very good result. Interesting that they added more passengers in October than they did in September. I wonder how that happened and where all the extra demand came from.

Because some people who usually travel in September went to vacation in October due to exams.

DeleteFirst you have to remember ZAG has to compete with other airports in Croatia. You have Zadar, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Pula, then add Brač and Osijek. Right there if ZAG had to go head to head it would be right there with BEG. Not taking anything away from BEG but you have to remember Croatia has many more airports then Serbia

DeleteWell, BEG competes with airports such as BUD and SOF and to a lesser extent with TSR. All of these are far more 'dangerous' because they are operational and functional the whole year and not just during the high summer season.
DeleteZAG is closer to BUD than BEG. Belgrade has Sofia and TSR close, and Zagreb has LJU, Venice and Vienna close.

DeleteBecause here we are talking about an airport's catchment area which goes beyond the actual city where the airport is located. Someone from Kragujevac could fly from BEG, SOF or INI.

DeleteYes but someone from DBV won't fly from ZAG just like someone from OSI won't fly from SPU. That is why the typical argument how Croatia has many airports makes no sense.
Serbia might have fewer airports but competition is there.
Zagreb has many airports near geographically that are not in Croatia.

DeleteGreat results, everything above 1.5% is a good growth. For those who say it is low or whatever, friendly reminder nothing can grow unlimited. Do not forget that BEG handles more pax than Serbia has citizens (even if the parallel is not good). For me would be interesting to see number of Serbian and foreign pax.
ReplyDeleteFor BEG to achieve the 9 million mark, its annual growth has to be 7,6% a minimum. With current growth being 6,1% for Jan - Oct period, November and December would have to achieve a total of about 17% growth to hit the 9 million mark. With capacity up 11,2% as per the article, BEG can't achieve the 9 million mark in 2025. In 2026, that is almost a certainty
