NEWS FLASH
Montenegro’s Minister for Transport, Maja Vukićević, has said the upcoming opening of Wizz Air’s base in Podgorica in 2026 will not undermine flag carrier Air Montenegro. “I do not expect our national carrier to be threatened. They also have a plan. They have performed very well this year. Their result seems to be very positive, which is commendable considering that many national airlines around the world do not operate in the black”, Ms Vukićvić said. She added, “Our national airline, with the capacities it has and the problems it faces, has done very well this year. More destinations and an even better business result is expected next year. The arrival of Wizz Air should not be viewed as a threat to anyone. This is a boom for Montenegro - an investment boom. The arrival of such a reputable company and the opening of so many new destinations will, I believe, attract other airlines as well to open even more routes to and from Montenegro”.

Wizz base in TGD is an opportunity for Montenegrin's connectivity.
ReplyDeleteIt will also be a stimulus for Air Montenegro to widen their network.
sure it does :) where you gona fly?
Deletewe slashed golden goose we had in our pocket, Russians and now we all talk like airtraffic experts..
Turkey visas will be a massive hit for them
ReplyDeleteThere is no ex Yu airline that wouldn't feel it. The difference between airlines is that for example JU will launch the same routes and compete not to be undermined, but Air Montenegro is too lazy to react and think about growing and following JU path (at least)
ReplyDeleteimo Air Montenegro should try and carve their niche out by connecting TGD with major hubs and conducting codeshare agreements, their current system of low-frequency flights on small and old jets is probs not sustainable when faced with competition from an LCC
ReplyDeleteAir Monte Negro will struggle.
ReplyDeleteThey can turn into AirSerbia feeder/operator on flights to BEG, freeing up Air Serbia's capacity to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
Win/win
