Amazing performance by Franjo Tudman Airport for yet another month!
I can see next year with all the new routes and increased frequencies already announced that it might reach 5.2 million passengers.

      "with all the new routes"
There are currently 0 new routes in Zagreb next summer.

Sure no problem. It's just that you claimed "all the new routes" when in reality there are none.

Zagreb does not necessarily need new routes, it just needs Croatia Airlines to drop prices so that it can have more than a 65% load factor and this could immediately bring lots of passengers. But that is never going to happen so the best chance of growing passenger numbers is for Ryanair to launch some new routes. Hopefully with another aircraft based in ZAG once the old terminal opens.

Only with Jet2Holidays you can save 50 pounds at Zagreb old terminal, that’s 200 pounds for family of four. 😂

At the end of the day if the ticket is significantly cheaper the passengers will not mind if it is the new or the old terminal.

I will be the first person to use the old terminal if the flight prices are cheaper. Why would anyone mind? It's a fantastic piece of architecture. The only problem is that it probably will not have a lounge. A lot of Ryanair passengers have Priority Pass or Amex so I hope they still have some kind of a mini lounge there.

I expect this year Zagreb Airport passenger noumbers will be in the region of 4.74 million. 2026, very likely airport will handle around 5.15 million, anything over would be a nice bonus. Would be a pleasant surprise if airport handles over 5.2 million btw, then in 2027 handles around 5.75 million pax.

Flew yesterday out of Zagreb, took bunch of pictures, all slots at the airport full, terminal wad cramped and at least 300 passengers ahead of me at the security check, about as many behind, all 4-5 tracks scanners worked full. I think my take off was at 3pm, there were at least 12 flights operated, 8 at the terminal and 3 remote. Terminal seemed small, with so many passengers, gates 26, 27, 28 totally full, no sitting places left. Gates 24 and 25 also packing, didn't look at other gates as there are restaurants and cafes, also full. Never seen it so busy as I did yesterday, 17/11/2025. Flew out of Zagreb 7-8 times this year.

Interesting to see how close JUL, SEP and OCT were and that also in ZAG meanwhile more passengers travelled in SEP than in JUL. The trend at some airports goes more and more towards autumn travel peak

It's because Ryanair fills its aircraft every month of the year. This growth is mostly coming from Ryanair. Croatia Airlines does not have a good load factor even in July.

Well, Croats have 1264 islands and a long coast so I believe they are there during summer more than somewhere else like rest of the year.

Slovenes who are often flying from Zagreb airport are during summer very often in Croatia as well.

Why don’t OU open a lounge? They could collect the fees from all the Star carriers and it would be cheaper than giving their flight and cabin crew vouchers to Prime Class.

OU is the only Star carrier without its own lounge- ie which uses a contract lounge. It perhaps didn’t make as much sense before HR joined Schengen’s but now it does.

Just small correction: it's not Star carrier, it's Star feeder. Maybe that's the answer why no own lounge - it's not only lounge, they don't have a single own thing - including aircraft and network. They are entirely and thoroughly there for others. And they are even proud about it!!!!

How did ZAG manage to opt-out of the absolutely dreadful “Niko” DCS that’s in use all across Croatia and even OMO.
