NEWS FLASH
Low cost carrier Eurowings will inaugurate flights between Berlin and Sarajevo next summer. The route was announced last year by the Sarajevo Tourism Board as part of a package of subsidised services to be launched to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital by the low cost airline. Although initially planned to commence in 2024, the airline has now confirmed flights will be introduced as part of a broader expansion from Berlin. Tickets are expected to go on sale shortly. Eurowings maintained operations between the two capitals in 2013 and 2014 and again in 2019, with services ending in January 2020. The route was set to resume in March that year, but the relaunch was cancelled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Berlin complements the carrier’ existing flights from Sarajevo to Cologne and Stuttgart. It is unclear whether services from Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Hannover, which were announced as part of the subsidy package last year will commence.
