Air Serbia takes delivery of fourth E195, more jets to come


Air Serbia is due to take delivery of its fourth Embraer E195 aircraft today. The 118-seat jet began its ferry flight on Thursday from Costa Rica via New York, Goose Bay and Reykjavik. Previously operated by Brazil’s Azul Airlines, the ten-year-old aircraft was registered as PR-AUP and has now taken up its new Serbian registration, YU-ATD. The jet, sourced through leasing company Azzora, had been in storage since April 2025. John Evans, CEO of Azorra, said, “This delivery marks the beginning of a valued partnership built on collaboration and shared long-term objectives, and reflects Azorra’s commitment to supporting Air Serbia’s continued success”. Air Serbia is already leasing two E195s from Azzora.

Commenting on the airline’s growing E195 fleet, Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said, “Welcoming these versatile Embraer E195-E1 aircraft represents another important step in our fleet strategy as we continue to renew and expand our operations. The aircraft offer the right balance of performance, comfort and efficiency to serve routes across Southeast, Western and Central Europe, allowing us to introduce jet service on shorter sectors and improve connectivity for our passengers”.

This is the first aircraft delivery for Air Serbia this year, with a further three mid-life Airbus A320 jets expected to arrive by June. The first, formerly operated by Wizz Air, is due to arrive next month, while another two former Aegean Airlines jets, are expected to be delivered in April, although they are not due to enter service until June. With the induction of the fourth Embraer and three A320s, the airline will finalise its fleet for the 2026 summer season. The carrier is now shifting its focus to the 2026/27 winter season, as well as to potential aircraft leasing opportunities emerging from the recent bankruptcies of several airlines. At the same time, Air Serbia will retire one A319 in February, with another scheduled to exit the fleet in March.

      8 Ejets are serious fleet. It allows more opportunity to explore new destinations. Unfortunately, JU doesn't seem it's up to it.

      JU is definitely up to it, but they also have their current network to look out for as well. We have JMK, GVA and now JTR launched with JU's Ejets, routes such as HAJ, HAM and GOT stabilised, BRU being increased, FRA jumping from 7 pw to 13 pw, ATH going triple daily and a tonne more examples with more to come. Roughly half of their route network was opened in the last 3-4 years and yet they're still launching new routes, time to increase frequencies as well.

      yes they are taking their time, but they did have a plan when making the statement in 2024. and that plan had to be scrapped and start again when the plan with Marathon failed. so you can say that the management was slow and poor planned to have a backup plan. but there is an understandable reason why its been slow.

      I believe JU, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I think the plane was officially handed over to JU at the start of the week by Azzora.

      It is done by JU, friend of mine flew YU-ATA on delivery so it is confirmed even though before that I was convinced that Azzora is flying aircraft for delivery

    ATR -600 i Embareri su najprirodniji za sezonalni saobracaj. Zato ih Er Srbija ima u floti.
    Nedostaje A321ULR za nove destinacije. Sa nadom da ce biti i novih A330NG. Kada su finasijski nedostupni A350. Da ima dostupnih Interkontinentalnih aviona Kineske proizvodnje,
    mogli bi biti prihvaceni. Vreme ce pokazati...
