Fraport has announced the appointment of a new CEO for its Slovenian airport operating unit, Fraport Slovenija, with the executive set to take up the role on March 1. Babett Stapel, who has held this position since October 2021, will step down at the end of February and will be replaced by Jurgen Deischl. Mr Deischl is an experienced aviation expert with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He held various positions at Lufthansa and Condor before joining Fraport in 2015. Mr Deischl is currently the Vice President for Aviation Development at Fraport.

Ms Stapel oversaw Ljubljana Airport’s recovery from both the coronavirus pandemic and the collapse of Adria Airways. During her tenure, Ljubljana Airport saw the arrival of a number of new carriers. She will take on a senior management position at Fraport in Frankfurt, where she will lead the unit for airport commercial activities and real estate (Retail and Real Estate).

In a statement, Fraport said, “A structured handover process is already underway to ensure continuity in the implementation of strategic and operational activities”. Mr Deischl noted, “I will take over the management of Fraport Slovenija with great enthusiasm and contribute to the further successful development of Ljubljana Airport. I look forward to contributing, together with the team, to strengthening the strategic position of the airport, its role in the region and the realisation of ambitious growth goals".
