Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova plan to conclude an Air Service Agreement which would enable the introduction of scheduled flights between the two countries for the first time. Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister, Vladimir Bolea, told a government meeting, “This initiative will contribute to increasing passenger traffic between the two states. This is an additional factor to stimulate tourism, develop trade exchange and strengthen bilateral economic ties. For the public, the conclusion of the agreement between Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina means more direct flights from Chisinau, and for the economy - increased passenger traffic, development of tourism, trade opportunities and a more competitive aviation market”. Moldova’s aviation market has been growing strongly over the past few years, with Chisinau serving as a base for Wizz Air, FlyOne, HiSky and SkyUp Airlines.
This would be an interesting route. I could see FlyOne launching it.

Delete22:49 Now you're making up numbers. Every week in summer months around 200 Bosnians travel to Romania just via bus tours, if you add business and planes there's no way it's under 50k yearly.

DeleteI can hardly think of two countries with less links than BiH and Moldova. But Cluj fan boy seems to think Romanians want to flock to Bosnias rivers and lakes, ans Bosnian citizens are looking to spend Lei in Romania.
ReplyDeleteWhy not, people travel left and right for tourism and Sarajevo has a lot of touristic appeal. They are finding nice things in Azerbaijan, why not in Bosnia? It's just pity they don't build on that.
DeleteTon of Balkan people travel inter-Balkan because of prices and mentality similarities. Sarajevo is a fairly touristic city even for wider European standards compared to its population, 1+M visitors isn't little.

ReplyDeleteConsidering it's coming from the Moldovan side and that no government delgeation meeting preceeded this announcment, it is very likely that Fly One expressed interest to fly.
