I think they will. On some day there are 2x daily flights on multiple charter airlines. And if you are like me, you'll never book your vacation via agency, so there's room for at least 2x weekly flights from June till September. Looks how much Iberia extended Madrid fligths this year

most people on this flights are not like you ... they like to buy all at once ... and they don't want to spend their time organising things

Exactly my point. There's a huge demand for agencies, but the young folks would much rather organize it by ourselves, so Pegasus would work well for us togethert with charters

I am a student and I don't know a single young person who would fly with agencies, but my friends use neighbouring airports A LOT, 2x weekly flights to five summer destinations would work perfectly with an LCC. Antalya, Malta, Spain, Greece and something in Italy. I am also sure that some part of the people using agencies would switch to self planning when they see the low prices of an LCC from Ljubljana.

They just don't connect the dots. I've had a talk with employees from one Slovene airline which operates outside of the country and was in talks with the government after the Adria's demise. I asked them why they think Ljubljana is so poorly connected. They said there is just no demand, that Ljubljana is too small of a city. I tried to convince them that LJU is literally losing hundreds of thousands of passengers per year because of poor connections, yet they couldn't get my point.

Sure, I'm just a noobie in this field, and they are (supposedly) professionals, so their opinion matters more, but I really sincerely hope for WizzAir, easyJet or someone else to properly enter the market and convince all the experts that there actually is good demand.

Yeah for sure, opening 15 new routes at once wouldn't work at all, but I think there would be more than enough demand for 3-5 top summer destination. BCN is a great example of that. Half of the flights in may were sold out, I definitely expect them to increase the frequencies next year.

You are talking about Amelia that just had to return all of their Arbus A320 fleet because they are losing big money. Not to mention that they somehow thought premium A319 will work in the GCC region, with their head of operations being a woman...Which abeit sad, is a no-go down there... I hope they survive, but having to return 5 frames in 2 months is a lot to swallow

@12:08 We understand that Slovenians much rather drive a car to their holiday destinations. Stat.si statistics show this very well, where 89%+ holiday trips are made by a car in Slovenia. We also understand that Slovenians have no problem driving that car to Trieste, Venice, Vienna, Budapest or even Bologna in order to save a few Euros while not considering their travel time as lost time. We also know that Italians and Austrians are much less likely to consider LJU as their starting point since for them, it is in an unknown country with a language that they do not speak. LJU will also have more expensive fuel due to economy of scale. LCCs in our region want airports to bend the knee and give them very favourable conditions, which Fraport will not do as it is not in their interest to tank their nice profit for an LCC which brings a very little margin. When you put all of this together, you can maybe start to understand why LJU is connected the way it is.

but you missed out thats its one of the smallest EU countries by territory and population plus almost zero diaspora

+ I forgot to add that the population is very dispersed and quite a lot of Slovenians live closer to ZAG, TRS and GRZ than to LJU.

I know you are joking but I am quite certain one exotic charter route per winter would actually work very well lets say one year maldives next year seychelles/Zanzibar...After the iranian crisis ends this would be worth a try and it doesnt have to be any bigger pleane - it is within reach with short refueling/leg stretch stop and the bright shiny intergalactic space ship would be perfect for it in their off season 🙂
