Ljubljana Airport has continued to maintain growth throughout May despite the temporary suspension of Lufthansa flights to Munich. It welcomed 168.820 passengers during the month, representing an increase of 11.2% on last year. The figure was achieved despite a dip in the number of aircraft movements by 1.3% to 2.299. During the January - May period, the airport welcomed 606.027 travellers, up 15.3%, or an additional 80.285 customers. However, the figure is still down 9.7% on the pre-pandemic 2019. The CEO of operator Fraport Slovenija, Jurgen Deisch, confirmed last week at the Slovenian Aviation and Travel Industry Summit that the airport will surpass its pre-Covid figures this year.

I'm optimistic
ReplyDeleteWizz to Podgorica is performing really good, one of the highest LF at the airport. unfortunately air Montenegro has a drop in PAX.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone surprised about Air Montenegro after yesterday's post? The cabin crew is always exactly like in yesterday's video.
DeleteHow big is the drop in pax?
DeleteLet's do a quick analysis:
ReplyDeleteSlovenia has a 41 % increase of overnight stays of British tourists for this year (100k in the first 5 months of 2025 vs 141k in the first five months of 2026.)
That is 41k extra overnight stays, let's say that two thirds of those were because of the new easyJet routes and increases (new routes to Manchester and Edinburgh + increase in winter frequencies to London), that brings us to 27,3k extra overnight stays.
Slovenian statistical office recently reported that a foreign tourist spends an average of 170 euros per day during the time in Slovenia. Let's be conservative and say that British tourists spend 150 euros per day, that brings us to:
27.300 * 150 = 4,1 million euros spent in Slovenia
Four million euros extra just because of a couple new routes with low frequencies. The country gets at least 500k of that in taxes. For me the logic is clear, they really should do more to bring new routes to Ljubljana airport, it pays off financially.
please dont. we dont need more tourists... Ljubljana is already overpacked by tourists... 1.2 MIO on 270K people living in a city is insane.
DeleteFar away from billions that supposedly vanished when Adria collapsed.
DeleteSlovenia needs new turism strategy - more good hotels around Postojna and Ljubljana being marketed as a day stay, and not a base point for the full Slovenia visit. I see people book Intercontinetal and then drive to Bled one day, come back, drive to Bohinj the other etc.
DeleteLjubljana probably can get about 10% more turists before it collapses.
But yes, the results of EasyJet finding Ljubljana are great
Good news for British flights is that Luton just got extended for the next summer season as well!
DeleteAnd I think both Manchester and Edi flights will be expanded with additional frequencies.
The east of the country also basically does not see almost any foreign tourists although Maribor, Rogaška and Ptuj have been doing small steps on becoming a bit more recognizable.
DeleteWe need more tourists...badly, as our economy is collapsing.
Deletesure hahaha
DeleteLjubljana is full every day in the summer. We desperatley need those new hotels around the new train station.
DeleteBravo Fraport!
ReplyDeletehaha yeah
Deletehinestly what do you want more? these are solid numbers
ReplyDeleteNot too loud please or you'll summon the Ryanair fanboys.
DeleteHowever, the figure is still down 9.7% on the pre-pandemic 2019. Krasnja did you finally learn the airport’s role in connectivity or you still live under the rock? 🤡
ReplyDeleteit is better connected than before ... you stil count the transfer pax that were counted double
DeleteDirect connectivity 2025 vs 2019: -35%
DeleteIndirect connectivity 2025 vs 2019: -8%
Fanboys only know how to make up things.
