NEWS FLASH
Aer Lingus has confirmed it will discontinue seasonal services between Dublin and Split following the conclusion of its current summer operations, with the final flight scheduled for September 28. Split is one of several routes the Irish carrier is removing from its network as part of cost cutting measures. Aer Lingus currently operates three weekly flights between the two cities, competing with Ryanair, which offers up to five weekly services, and Croatia Airlines, which maintains three weekly rotations. Aer Lingus introduced flights to Split in 2017.

That is quite a surprise. They had them at ghastly flight times however.
ReplyDeleteWith 5 weekly Ryanair and 3 weekly Croatia, it's not that big surprise. Especially because it has more to do with Aer Lingus than with Split, as it's "one of several routes the Irish carrier is removing from its network"
DeleteYeah. Why they didnt time flights to connect to the US is beyond me.
DeleteAlways choosing Aer Lingus from Dublin. Unfortunately Split is not the only one . Services from Dublin to Las Vegas, Denver and Minneapolis, along with Split are earmarked for axing. Aer Lingus routes from Dublin to Seattle, Malta, Hamburg and Frankfurt are set to become summer only services.

ReplyDeleteA great win for our beloved Jasmin, seeing off a rival.
ReplyDeleteFriends, Aer Lingus is flying towards bankruptcy, they are struggling big time and have announced major cuts to its workforce. The following route are being terminated:
ReplyDeleteDUB-FRA
DUB-HAM
DUB-MLA
DUB-SEA
DUB-LAS
DUB-DEN
DUB-MSP
DUB-SPU
These are major cuts.
They are significant cuts. Not major. They have 62 aircraft and are reducing it by 6. Its part of IAG which has very very deep pocks.
DeleteThey are cutting both their network and workforce. EI has always struggled financially and if they can't make long-haul work then may God help them. IAG is not know to be tolerant of losses, let's see if they end up selling EI.
DeleteThey'll be ok :)

DeleteAer Lingus is profitable and doing very well. IAG wants more profit though, and their target profit margin is now a double-digit number
Please can someone prove an airline with a 10% profit margin is heading towards bankruptcy
Delete18:46 seems to think that's the case, but no proof is required because magical thinking is enough
