The former Yugoslavia’s 21 commercial airports with scheduled passenger traffic handled a combined total of 13.105.289 travellers during the January - May. The figure represents an increase of 1.074.294 travellers on the same period last year.
Macedonia was the fastest-growing market in the former Yugoslavia, adding 375.766 passengers during the first five months of the year. Its capital, Skopje, was the region’s fastest-growing airport, handling an additional 360.589 travellers compared to the same period last year. In May alone, Skopje recorded a 28.6% increase in passenger numbers, serving 355.929 passengers. The growth is being fuelled by Wizz Air’s wide-scale expansion in the country.
Passenger traffic among former Yugoslav airports, January - May 2026
Belgrade remained the former Yugoslavia’s busiest airport, adding 255.376 travellers during the January - May period despite facing several headwinds, including the reduction of services by a Middle Eastern carriers, among them one of its busiest airlines, Flydubai. In addition, the closure of Lufthansa CityLine significantly reduced operations to Munich for much of April and May.
Elsewhere, after several years of strong passenger growth, Pristina has seen its figures contract. In April alone, passenger numbers declined 4% year-on-year. The airport is expected to face further pressure in the coming months due to significant frequency reductions and network cuts by its largest carrier, GP Aviation. Meanwhile, smaller Croatian coastal airports have been affected by the suspension of domestic Public Service Obligation (PSO) flights operated by Trade Air, after the Croatian government failed to launch the tender process for a new four-year domestic services contract within the required timeframe. A public call has yet to be issued, however, Trade Air has announced the resumption of domestic flights by mid-July.

Wow Skopje cohld add over half a million passengers this year.
ReplyDeleteprobably somewhere close to 600k
DeleteW6 after the NEOs issues were resolved and deliveries from Airbus resumed really grows rapidly almost everywhere.
DeleteWizz has been a God send for SKP
DeleteIt truly is!
DeleteBy the end of the year Skopje will be the top airport in ex Yu.
ReplyDeleteYep, Its catching up with Heathrow
DeleteNext year it will be bigger than DXB
Deleteyou must be so furrious/sad about these numbers to post such a senseless provocation. give it a rest
DeleteNobody is furious, why would anybody anywhere be?, calm down man
DeleteSome people don’t even understand jokes
DeleteBravo Fraport, tremendous performance even without a national carrier.
ReplyDeleteStill down -10% in traffic compared to 2019. Direct connectivity compared to 2019 is -35%, while indirect is -8%. Far from tremendous performance.
Delete^ Actually it is tremendous performance if you take into account that Adria no longer exists to fly people for loss making fares and having loads of connecting passengers which are counted twice thus increasing the overall numbers.
DeleteAdria ceased to exist in 2019. It's 2026 and the airport is in worse state than before. You Fanboys should stop with all the excuses and admit incompetence.
Delete^ I knew you had no arguments! Just insults.
DeleteMeanwhile reality keeps embarrassing you every month!
I showed you data. You showed your excuses for incompetence.
DeleteWhat data? JP carrying cheap connections that are counted twice thus inflating the statistics?
DeleteLOL, no. It is O&D numbers that count.
And LJU is doing way better while at the same time the state spends zero Euros to cover the national airline's losses. But I think that is what angers you the most.😉
@Anon 09:39
DeleteAgree, some people just can't let go of the past when state owned airlines faced little to no competition from LCCs and flying was a privilege for the few.
For you I posted real data about current situation while you are making excuses. Adria had barely 200k transfers a year. If you can't replace those passengers in more than 7 years you are incompetent.
DeleteActually Adria had way more transfers than that a year.
DeleteAnd they were counted twice thus inflating the stats.
Try to stick to facts.
Fraport Fanboys and facts don't go together 😂
DeleteIt is the sufferers of Fraport Derangement Syndrome that can't stand the fact that airports thrive without loss making national carriers!
DeleteThe aviation market of the 21st century has been awful to them.
I only suffer because I have to drive to other airports because air connectivity sucks 😂
DeleteYes I/m sure having to drive to ZAG because you do not have direct flights or easy connections to where exactly? That JP was having direct flights to? TIA? 😂😂😂
DeleteLOL. do not be desperate man!
And that is purely your choice to suffer. Air travel is not a human right.
DeleteI wonder which destinations JP served that are now not served directly from LJU or with a short connection every day of the week.
DeleteI love there articles with statistics.
ReplyDeleteWhy does Pula have minus 40%?
Nis quietly growing 30%.
ReplyDeleteBNX what is going on there?
ReplyDeleteThey have Analiticar there. Total incompetent management.
Deletealmost spilled my coffee...
Deleteregarding management there were always like now tbh
1mil added. thats a good result
ReplyDelete- interesting PRN had only 10k more pax than SKP. in May
ReplyDelete- gonna be tight between SJJ, TGD and LJU
Its not a race you realise?
DeleteOf course it is, it always has and not just here but everywhere. That's why rankings are so popular
DeletePopular they might be but considering it a competition is a bit childish.
DeleteIf you say so...
DeleteTGD numbers in june are unreal, and conservative estimates for this year are 2.2m pax, so it's not that tight.
DeleteTuzla, Skopje and Niš are definitely our star performers. On the other hand, Pula and Osijek leave much to be desired.
ReplyDeleteGosh. Sound you like the Poliburo hahaha. Production must increase comrades!
DeleteOsijek has never been a factor
Deleteyou should look more at absolute numbers. BEG has added 8x more pax than INI
Factor in what?
DeleteSKOPJE is on fire 👏👏 great perfomance
