Airport operator TAV Macedonia has invested one million euros in new CT cabin baggage screening technology and automated security lanes at Skopje Airport, aiming to improve security standards, speed up passenger processing and enhance the overall travel experience. The investment includes two CT screening devices and two automated lanes manufactured by Smiths Detection. According to TAV Macedonia General Manager Nejat Kurt, the new equipment places Skopje Airport alongside major European hubs that already use CT screening technology. The system enables passengers to keep laptops, tablets, mobile phones and liquids inside their cabin baggage during security screening, while also allowing each screening lane to process up to twice as many passengers per hour.

The company said the investment forms part of a broader airport security programme. Last year, TAV Macedonia completed two additional security projects worth a combined 1.93 million euros, including a new video surveillance system and a modern training, testing and certification platform for security personnel. The operator said it will continue investing in technology and infrastructure to strengthen Skopje Airport's position as a regional aviation hub.

Finally!!!!! This was horrible.
ReplyDeleteNow they only need to fix the passport control with automated stations.
They are expanding the passport control area so it is possible we see that this year or next
DeleteThe passport control is so smooth and fast already the gain will not be that much :)
DeleteYes true but they expect numbers to grow and thats why they are extending that area. I heard they are also preparing one more restaurant close to that area

Delete:) I will check it out next week
DeletePlease and let us know. I havent been there since February :))
DeleteThis is great news! Does anybody know if this will allow passengers to take liquids in 100ml+ containers to the cabin?
ReplyDeleteI remember the airports in Belgrade and Amsterdam use similar technology, but they were asked to reverse the decision on no liquid limit. However, I recently flew from Milan Malpensa, and we were allowed to take to the plane liquids with no 100ml limitation. I'm just wondering if something has changed... does anyone know?
In the cabin bag yes you can take the liquids that what it says in their article as well
DeleteRight… it says liquids, but the article does not specify the container size for those liquids.
DeleteI believe as u mention up to 100ml you will be allowed. This measure is worldwide accepted
Deletedoes it mean that the EU will accept the security level at Skopje to be adequate when arriving to an EU country as transit from Skopje ? as it has been until now, passengers need a new security check in the EU country where they are in transit. Totally stupid. Skopje is not part of the One Stop Security program (OSS). of the non-EU ex-yugo countries, I think only Nikola Tesla in Belgrade is.
ReplyDeleteI believe Montenegro is part of the OSS.
DeleteWith new techology and investment in it yes it is possible to become. Those investmens are very important especially for countries that are not EU members

DeleteIs that a hope you know the airport is aiming for this?

DeletePage 134 specifies the OSS and non-OSS countries.
15:24 everything is possible
DeleteThat doesnt answer the question
DeleteMacedonia is implementing most of the requirements that are cominf from the EU for joining the union, so this could be done too in future.
DeleteFirst in the region. AI confirms it. Not bad. Haters on duty are having a bad day.
Delete@19:49 what does this mean? Can you explain?
