Airport operator TAV Macedonia has invested one million euros in new CT cabin baggage screening technology and automated security lanes at Skopje Airport, aiming to improve security standards, speed up passenger processing and enhance the overall travel experience. The investment includes two CT screening devices and two automated lanes manufactured by Smiths Detection. According to TAV Macedonia General Manager Nejat Kurt, the new equipment places Skopje Airport alongside major European hubs that already use CT screening technology. The system enables passengers to keep laptops, tablets, mobile phones and liquids inside their cabin baggage during security screening, while also allowing each screening lane to process up to twice as many passengers per hour.

The company said the investment forms part of a broader airport security programme. Last year, TAV Macedonia completed two additional security projects worth a combined 1.93 million euros, including a new video surveillance system and a modern training, testing and certification platform for security personnel. The operator said it will continue investing in technology and infrastructure to strengthen Skopje Airport's position as a regional aviation hub.

DeleteThis is great news! Does anybody know if this will allow passengers to take liquids in 100ml+ containers to the cabin?
ReplyDeleteI remember the airports in Belgrade and Amsterdam use similar technology, but they were asked to reverse the decision on no liquid limit. However, I recently flew from Milan Malpensa, and we were allowed to take to the plane liquids with no 100ml limitation. I'm just wondering if something has changed... does anyone know?
In the cabin bag yes you can take the liquids that what it says in their article as well

Deletedoes it mean that the EU will accept the security level at Skopje to be adequate when arriving to an EU country as transit from Skopje ? as it has been until now, passengers need a new security check in the EU country where they are in transit. Totally stupid. Skopje is not part of the One Stop Security program (OSS). of the non-EU ex-yugo countries, I think only Nikola Tesla in Belgrade is.
