Air Serbia has extended its reduced schedule on flights between Belgrade and Guangzhou into most of September. The service will continue to operate once per week during the month, rather than twice weekly, maintaining the same frequency as in July and August. The carrier recently extended its operating permits with the Civil Aviation Administration of China, enabling it to continue serving both Guangzhou and Shanghai. Twice weekly flights to Guangzhou are currently scheduled to resume from September 28. It should be noted that the reduction in September frequencies was made several weeks ago. China Southern Airlines continues to operate two weekly flights between Guangzhou and Belgrade.
Unfortunately, there is no place for 2 carriers on this route

DeleteThis is not good at all. Ok, this is not the season for Guangzhou, season for there is late fall, winter and spring, nevertheless, bad onboard service on JU planes, comparing to China Southern, turned down most of Chinese frequent travelers on this route...Also very very bad advertising for this flight. Most of people don`t even know they can take very good connections in CAN for onward frights to Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, etc, code share with China Southern is there, and ticket prices are very affordable, and transfer in convenient...What Ju must do in this period till late fall i to promote this route big time, as transfer route for entire |South-East Asia and Australia for the incoming season in those regions..

DeleteYes there is code share..There was for SYD, MEL, Phuket, SIN, SDG, HAN etc..I flew frw times in the last year through CAN with Air Serbia, last time in April this year..I don't know if itsstill existing, but in April it was..

DeleteJU needs to improve their website both in promoting the transfers to Australia as well as the booking features. I had no idea there was an option and I monitor this closely.
Delete@15:57 you also have very cheap flights with Scoot from CAN to Australia, without code share..There is also plenty of LCC from CAN to neighbouring countries in SA Asia, was very cheap till this Iran oil crisis

ReplyDeleteActually it's not bad at all. If service increases in Sept, it will be great. If it doesn't, it may be a good opportunity to focus on increasing frequency to Shanghai or launch a new destination like Miami. If Lufthansa reductions are good for overall LH business to focus on other areas, than it also must be good for other airlines to do the same.
DeleteFlights to Shanghai and MIA have nothing to do with CAN, if JU wanted, it could've launched it or increase frequencies, they have enough resources..

DeleteWith this reduction, all 4 A330s are in the air at the same time on Saturdays, so there is a limit on resources.

Deletethe mentality of chinese bookings is last minute and does not fit in model of western airlines - that means short term adjustments are expected couple if months in advance - if ju sees it fit frequencies are going to increase

DeleteI booked a return flight to CAN with Air Serbia literally last night. I was originally aiming for the trip to be late October/early November, but some fights that were aligned with my schedule were actually completely sold out, and I ended up booking it for late November. So, based on this experience I find it really interesting how seasonal this route is.

DeleteHopefully sooner rather than later JU would be allowed by the Chinese to launch PEK.
