Soon in Sarajevo

Sarajevo Airport has confirmed that the Turkish low cost airline Pegasus will launch scheduled flights from Istanbul to the Bosnian capital next February. “Via Sabiha Airport, Pegasus will connect Sarajevo to the world”, the airport wrote on its official Facebook page before publishing the airline’s schedule on its website. Pegasus will operate five weekly flights from Sabiha Gokcen Airport starting February 4. Sarajevo is yet another destination in the airline’s expansion into Eastern Europe. Flights to the Bosnian capital will operate every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tickets are yet to be put up for sale. The low cost airline will also launch services to Belgrade from February 1.

Pegasus’ arrival will add even further competition on the hotly contested Istanbul - Sarajevo service, which is dominated by Turkish Airlines. Pegasus is planning a major network expansion in 2013 and recently ordered 100 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, 75 of which are firm orders. The low cost airline has operated seasonal charter flights to the Bosnian capital in the past.

Meanwhile, Norwegian Air Shuttle, which operates seasonal summer services from Oslo and Stockholm to Sarajevo, will also launch flights to the city from Copenhagen during peak season. The service is to be inaugurated on June 25 and will run once per week until August 13. Further flight details can be found here. Recently, the CEO of the Emirates Group announced Flydubai’s intention to launch flights to the Bosnian capital in 2013. The new arrivals will give a solid boost to Sarajevo Airport which handled 544.780 passengers in the elapsed eleven months of the year, a decrease of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2011.

When will we see them in Zagreb? I am sure there is a market for them to serve, especially since OU and TK operate the route and the fares are not that low, especially not with TK.

If they can make BEG and SJJ work then I am sure they can launch at least two weekly flights to ZAG.

Finally Bosnia to deserve its stake of the cake. Enough of Belgrade and Zagreb :) Good luck!

If the charges were lower at the airport I am sure we would have more airlines operating out of there- not to mention cheaper fares.

Finally, great news for Sarajevo! :)

Congratulations to Sarajevo! They get a proper low cost airline that cares about their customers;))))

Swiss sent 2 A321 to BEG today. Wonder if they could have sent one wide-body instead.
15:30
Anonymous said…
Exactly! Why not send an a330.on both flight's?
16:59

cmon, theres no need for 333:)

Next days Swiss will fly all time A321 to Belgrade, double daily.
18:23

Doble daily A321 is already perfect for short haul.
Single daily A330 would be totally at the wrong place...
Frequency comes before capacity!
18:25

Skopje and Pristina were Pegasus babies all the time and now Sarajevo gets higher frequency then Belgrade!
How will Belgrade stay number 1 in Ex Yu
with their stupid attitude of blocking new flights as long as possible as in case with this Pegasus now?!
18:30

At least unlike SJJ they have flights to block and 3-4 airlines competing on the route, not like in Sarajevo. Don't worry for Belgrade's place in Ex-Yu, it will only widen its advance compared to other airport in the future.

I actually think the other way around, capacity should come before frequency. That's all because of that stupid competition staff.

I think an A380 double daily could easily be filled up between Zurich and Belgrade:).

Great for Sarajevo!

OT: I'm reading posts here very often amd I still can't believe how arrogant theae Serbian/Belgrade people are. Judging by the comments they leave here, it's no wonder nobody wanted to be in the same country with them.

You are just envious because Serbia can get the best airlines and big
gest aircraft flying into Belgrade!
23:15

Why would anyone be envious about SJJ? Cmon man... Lets be realistic, SKP is 2 light years ahead of SJJ.

I am amazed by people's ability to judge everyone by the few trolls that appear every now and then. No wonder war broke out with such inflammable, gullible people on all sides.

I'm telling you guys, the Serbs/Belgraders on this blog are unbelievably arrogant. Whatever you say their only answer is that everyone else is envious on BEG. I mean c'mon what the hell...and now even.these macedonian guys...dear macedonians, no offense, but building fake alexanders and other GREEK historical buildings in Skopje won't make your unattractive and unknown capital any better...regarding SKP being 2 light years from Sarajevo, I'm only saying Winter Olympics '84 Sarajevo, an ACTUAL public tram and trolley public system and world famous brand city that only fools don't know about. Your league is Pristina my friends, whether Skopje has 500k or 700k inhabitants

you are full becuase you dont know history, the guy sad that skopje airport is 2 light years ahead Sarajevo airport. SKP this year has 900k, and SJJ 600k. And its true! And now, if you don't know history now I'm gonna tell you. Greeks say that they has region called Macedonia, and 20 years ago nobody knew about it.They invented that to make a problem of political dimensions. and please dont underestimate other cities. Beacuse you dont talk about Paris. You talk about Sarajevo

Good Luck to PGS and Sarajevo. Any competition is welcome.
